I've had the exact same question and am delighted to see even Leo come in for the topic. The challange with AI, as Leo points out, is not that it will actually be able to create proper games. And it is not even that slop will flood the market, because with steam, I believe, the market is in better hands than it probably would be otherwise. The problem is that before publishing anything you have to somehow survive while sinking time first into learning all that - and then actually doing the work. And all the opportunities to do freelance work or generally somehow do anything related to the skillset you develop to survive are actually being replaced by AI. Working for a large studio is not that great given the "state of the industry" right now. Meaning that a lot of these big companies are being trashed by trying to extract as much profits as possible (which of course won't work) and actually using AI themselves.
