I've been watching his game theory series and now on episode 7, there is a lot of oversimplifications and I've tried to be careful with them but it's still been one of the most helpful and informative content for understanding the Game that the world plays and some principles and laws of it. I think this is the kind of stuff that should be taught in every school allthought the school system is not great for stuff like this and that's even one of the episodes in this series.

It's been few months now that I watched the video about Truth being the ultimate value and I have realized that I always have had intuitions about the Truth. What I mean is that there are so many situations where I thought to myself that something is wrong about something but I couldn't really articulate it to myself. For example, even when I was quite young and I used to listen to debates, I thought that it actually makes no sense that some people aspire to be better at debating because that basically means that you will be only better and more effective at pushing your own agenda, this was quite deep insight for that age I think but also I just didn't know what to make of that at all. This is just one of many many examples, now my question is that do you guys think that everyone has deep intuition about the Truth but the level of acting on the intuition is what makes the difference between people? Is Truth intuitive at all?

I believe that life is just a long series of sacrifices. You always sacrifice something for something else. If you want to make a lot of money, you will need to sacrifice some social contacts, friends, family, kids. If you want to be great friend, husband and a father it's really hard to also make a lot of money unless you completely sacrifice your health. Many of the billionares are actually miserable because they have sacrificed so much and they don't see the sacrifice paying itself back in any meaningful way. That's why many of them will start to develop some higher usages for the money, like Elon Musk wants to save the humanity from extinction, Bill Gates wants to vaccinate everyone etc. I think the best way to approach this is to be conscious and selective about the sacrifices you actually are willing to make. Maybe even list them out and look at them every day. If you don't do this, your unconscious mind will do it and be your master in life.

I probably am a little bit neurodivergent, but I'm also a little bit of a lizard by dna, so am I a lizard? Well if you ask a typical lizard they would probably say something like shhhhh🦎
-
Does that include me? I love Leo's videos and unique views on things. I'm very neurotypical tho, maybe just everybody else then...

@Inliytened1 Andrew Huberman is highly overrated imo.

Is Alex O'Connor out of question? It wouldn't be the easiest podcast to get to but it would be interesting to say at least.

What do you mean by this if you don't mind me asking? What is it like being a psychic, how do you know? -
Stellaris is amazing, Civ is also good.

Laughing at your boss's unfunny jokes. Not standing up against bullying.

I was going to write tattoos but then I realized that not having tattoos is also very comformist.. wait am I the only one who thinks this megathread doesn't make any sense at at all. Anything can be conformist or non-conformist and it's just all about the people around you that makes the difference. Drinking poison is super conformist but only under the influence of Jim Jones.

Linkedin, super conformist

Absolutely fantastic video. I feel like lot of the things said in the video just sounded so obvious but I've never heard them said before. My question is that is it possible to cripple your decision making when the Truth becomes the highest value? What I mean by that is that sometimes I feel like decisions just need to be made quickly and there might not be time for truth seeking. How does a real truth seeker handle these scenarios? Can a real truth seeker be in a swat group handling a hostage situation?

I've always been super interested in spirituality, however I've never been able to push myself to pursue any of it in any meaningful way and while that is completely ok, I also feel like I have some material advantages to be gained from some spiritual work, maybe that would motivate me to pursue it more. Would like to hear your thoughts / experiences about this!
-
Thanks for the suggestion! I will definitely check out Peter Ralston. When it comes to motivations and goals changing, I don't see any problem there, actually I'm just kinda exited to be able to see them drop at some point because it's tiring to have so much material aspirations all the time.

To put it more simply, for example as a video title it would be "How to gain competitive advantage from spiritual work"

For some reason I find it funny that Leo has gathered a big group of liberal minded people and then argues with them about the death penalty being good for society. It's respectable hustle.

One of my favorite Leo's videos is the Making sense of Jordan Peterson, I loved the analysis of Jordan's work because it gave me an objective view of his views and teachings but also the shadow and biases. Osho is also very interesting character to many people (including me) and I've watched a lot of the videos and listened his talks. However I haven't really seen any objective analysis of any of it. Osho is very controversial character and people either hate him or love him. Analysing Osho with the big picture in mind could just be impossible, but if somebody could do it, it's Leo.

Life Is Beautiful it's funny, it's clever, it's tragic and it will make a grown man cry. There is something very special about this movie I love it.

Less social media is a good start. Also I think you should learn to see the inauthenticity in those posts because most of them really are inauthentic, especially those where something seems to be 'perfect'. It's always a facade because nothing is perfect in that traditional sense of perfect.

I've always struggled with the nature of information. Internet and AI makes information super accessible but also there is so much of it and most of it is conflicting. For example I just recently tried to find how much d-vitamin do I really need to take and it's really hard to find something that is agreed upon. So who to trust? What sources to use? Why those sources over others? The d-vitamin example is a simple one but there are so many. Titles: The Nature of Information, What is Information?, Who comes up with information?

They event have it as json: https://github.com/busterbenson/public/blob/master/cognitive-bias-cheat-sheet.json I have an idea to make this into a small web project so that you could quickly check the meaning of each bias with some examples. It's probably done already but it would be great way to learn these myself.

There are not many frameworks of thinking that has helped me to understand the world more than spiral dynamics has. It's amazing tool, but I think it can also become a trap and I feel like that's a trap that I will walk into at some point if I have not already.
