Don't get me wrong—I appreciate the advice. I know people are just trying to help each other navigate the messy world of dating, and some of those patterns can be useful guardrails. But honestly? It feels like we are missing the entire point of romance. This hyper-analytical, rule-based approach is completely antithetical to love. Love isn't a formula. Love is revolutionary. It doesn't follow a pattern; it shatters them. It breaks every single rule you thought you had about yourself and about other people. Real love doesn't keep you safely inside your comfort zone—it pulls a completely new person out of you, making you someone you never thought you could be. It forces you to break out of old cycles, not conform to new ones. I thought this forum was supposed to be a radical, free-thinking bunch. Why are we acting like a crowd of rigid rule-followers trying to reverse-engineer human connection? If we want something real, we have to stop treating people like algorithms to solve. Let's talk about the magic, the chaos, and the radical vulnerability that love actually requires. Who else feels like we've lost the plot?

Nope, there is always more nuance, depth, breadth, things to learn, and ways to teach them and articulate them. Thinking you have that all down pat is arrogance. I enjoy watching other people grasping ideas as each person teaches me something new about what its like to experience the universe, even if the material is old to me. I'm a teacher and I teach the same thing over and over again but never get tired of my students. Think of a scientist who studies one species for a few years. The layman might say isn't it boring to look at the same thing every day?

You forgot the part about human nature and the need to compete. Not sure how that can be eliminated. I got a solution to a different problem. If every other neighbors placed their garbage bin next to their neighbor's bin, then the garbage truck would have to stop half as often. This would be better for the workers, the trucks, the gas emissions, the noise pollution, and make it quicker to collect the garbage.

Great question and I have the same problem. Take notes while listening. Audible let's you save clips and organize and label them. There a huge case made for slow reading/listening as it makes you absorb the info better. The advantage of going through a book quickly though is that if it's bad you don't waste alot of time on it. The best format is the one that works best for you. Sounds like audiobooks are the way to go since you can get through them at a faster speed.

Well they win about half the elections and still get about half the votes when they lose BUT you are right too. They play it too safe and that is their downfall in a way. Bernie Sanders is a generational talent and the Dems didn't embrace him. It's easy to make fun of the fact that conservatives are stuck in their ways but Dems aren't much better.

Isn't it interesting to think about all the fads and styles that have come and gone? Women would pluck their eyebrows very thin a few decades ago. Men would wear ruffs around their necks in the 1500s. Some African tribes stretch their ears and mouths with disks. Some people color their skin with ink. What's up with all that?

Very insightful thanks! Exactly. And removing the reproduction part from sex (with contraceptives, and abortion) is like removing nutrients and calories from food. It completely misses the mark and becomes meaningless. It's a controversial opinion and I could be wrong but I think that the reason sex has become so perverse and such a frustrating topic for people is because the risk of pregnancy has been effectively eliminated from the equation. Big corporations are using our drive for sex to make money too.

Ever notice how being too horny or obsessed with sex is a huge turn off for both men and women? It seems the perfect balance has to be found between wanting and trying to get sex and it's opposite. Think about it, those that aren't interested in sex never get it and those who are constantly looking for it will turn many people off and even gross them out in the process. This is true for both men and women.

I think the biggest reason she lost is because she had such little time to connect with voters and also she isn't that good at connecting with voters over all; the whole time she was VP we didn't get to know her at all. I felt that was very strange. Further more on her short campaign she only went on softball interviews like "call her daddy" and tried to ignore the whole demographic and ideas that made Trump popular. Also she laughs way too much, and she isn't that strong of a speaker (like Newsom or Nikki Haley for example). That being said she has awesome values, and what she pulled off is incredible. I voted for her and I think she is an amazing and impressive person who would have done an excellent job as president.

Could be the ultimate "I told you so campaign". However I don't think she only lost because she had very little time to run. She has great values and I'd vote for her if she became the candidate but she isn't a great speaker and she is only comfortable in settings like "call her daddy" podcast and softball interviews like that. She doesnt connect with many different types of people as well as Gavin Newsom does and isn't as good a a speaker as Nikki Haley or John Ossoff is.

This post made me think. I'm not even sure I agree with it. Generally I think fighting fire with fire is ineffective. On the other hand poetry is also ineffective when fighting fire or swordsmen.
