I have noticed that I really enjoy playing musical instruments, but I really struggle with consistent practice due to the repetitive practice that is required to master certain techniques or a specific part of a song. For me this has been problematic for many years which shows on my skills on the instruments I already own. I also want to try new instruments, but I'm afraid that this issue will make me quit or not practice often enough. If the repetitive practice goes well, I usually get bored. If it goes bad, I get frustrated. In both of these cases I end up quitting the practice fairly early on, which leads to short practice sessions that most likely don't end up building any skill at all. Are there any techniques I can use to make the repetitive practice more enjoyable (or at least have less negative attitude towards it)? I do know that I need the repetitive practice, but I simply can't keep doing it in the moment.
