  1. well, in programming world, lets say 20 years ago and more, programmers had same issues, and their code was the most expensive and techniques that they used to build codes and it was secretive, but not anymore. the thing is about programming and code it developed rapidly, both how codes work in computer, and the design of the code (software engineer) teaching, and they are very young technologies compared to others. nowadays, after decompilers came out (which allow other programmers in the long run to easily steal your code tricks and design, even reuse the thing), and other tools to read the memory and such. the thing about programming, the code can be copied from anywhere and reused without any physically cost, but thanks for the advancement of frames and how computers works and networks and cross-platforms ... things became ... kinda different, the code in itself doesn't weight as much as the project anymore, projects now required a lot of hard work to build a connected code despite if the how to put that, people don't have enough time or reason or money to put to steal the code, it would be too much work (Speically there are some new security measurements against those new tools i mentioned earlier), so instead of trying to steal the complex it would be easier for them if they start working on their own in short, and even if they stole it and try to resell it, they will just add more awareness of who you are, the creator, which work almost like an AD. yes i am not a business guy, and yes your case is different, making cloth cost more than a place in memory like code, it required a labor and hand skills and materials, so here are few questions for you: 1- does your mom care about the traditions and the secrete of making those cloths and the originality of the work? like, she feel she is getting offended by cheap clones and people making money of the her design and doing the job poorly that damaging the image. or does she only worry about losing the business by people who can afford more workers? 2- does people reallllly care about clothing that would copy anything get a bit famous? and would your mom work be that noticeable? if that's the case won't that means that she already made a good amount of money out of it? and even if they start selling more of similar for lower, won't that give her more chance in the long run to get future customers because people start to see this as a trend, which means more money for everyone her and them at the end. 3- do people in cloth designs care about who made that model or design? i don't know, u should know more, but in accessory and jewelry craft it seems people do, and any respect artiest\designer won't copy other people work, so only cheap factory do those things, so once again if that's the case whoever clone your mom ideas because they are soo good to clone would only give her more power and better name in the market, and in return will bring more costumers to her. once again, i am not a business guy, so all what i said might be totally from my ass, sorry about that if that's the case, but that's what i believe, i use my own logic to attempt to solve all my problems, it is working so far in this side ....
  2. @shouldnt first thing i would like to notify is: Way to go! i am happy for you that you reached that far, and in that itself is a huge success already and a well done progress. the second part is you still 27, you still have time for changes and more importantly developments, i am not an expert, not even close to that, but my youngest brother had a similar dilemma, not in that extreme level, but in short he found himself working in a place that he truly has zero passion in, he works there because he can survive, and because just to satisfy my father expections, he has huge passion to 3d design, not animated, just 3d digital art design, and in this Arabic country there is no future in that filed, not 4 years ago, not now either, but he need to make a living after all and work, and he is not welling to sacrifice his position in the family yet too, you see, seeking your passion sometimes is quite costly even if it brought to you fortune, money power and fame. so, he was asking for advice for a while and he got several answers, he called me once and we talked about it for a while, and what i advised him is the following: me: is your current work guaranteed? and how guaranteed your passion is? he replied: me current work is more than guaranteed but my passion ... is hardly will make any money and it takes time because i am still a beginner. so i told him: what you can if i were you is the following: keep your work and in your free time instead of playing video games, spend time with friends, blowing steam or even eating and sleeping, spend some of those activity time in practicing and learning, at least 2 hours worth per day, accumulate them and keep them up, if you really passionate to it and "REALLY" want to go there then why not? do your full time job and sacrifice your other time for your passion. you see, my advice is kinda faulty too, it might lead him into a stressful life, which what happen to me several times, but if it was his true passion, then he would never regret spend any time on it, that's what i believe. his response at first was negative, he was like: two hours is nothing, it won't do anything in digital art realm, and i won't advance at all, and i am always exhausted when i leave my full time job even to have fun or play or eat, and you tell me to work more ... etc etc that was natural response actually from someone in his age and i didn't blame him, but look at who start making weird 3d things again 3 months ago your situation shouldnt is extremely different so my advice to bro might not be suitable for you, what you need for now i believe is survival more than success and passion, mentally and physically, you just came out from drinking problems and divorce and stuff, and if you stress yourself too much you might get depress again, so try to watch that, don't be too hard on yourself, and if money is an issue, and i assume in your case it is, and your current work makes you money then maybe you should consider sticking to it and not lose ur job position, if you can get job positions fast enough and you can survive and you can take risks, then maybe i can suggest see what's your heart desire more, do you want to be an expert in design or music more in 10 ... 20 ... or 30 years from now? and why not both? some people have passion and skills to do more than one thing and they live successfully in that way, and work as free lance wherever they can fit better. besides, it seems you have access to the internet, soooo ... can you make money from music online? financially success in life depends on the situation of the person, her\his personality, place and time if you ask me, ask business freaks about that, they know better than me in those matters.
  3. @Ayla not at all, it was, in matter of fact, a complement.
  4. Man, these kind of subject make me speechless for a while, God, religion, anti-religion, knowing and believing (or seeing), life purpose and ... stuff. do we REALLY want to know those stuff sometimes? i mean what if you knew those stuff for Granted, i mean 100% granted but it told you you were all wrong, or all right, or all right but the strongest part that you believe in was wrong, we might feel arrogant and say "i will survive, i will be cool with it" but i believe that impact would be shockingly huge. some of us really care about those subjects and want to know, so people who have low believe and not interested in religions or spirituality for any kind of reasons won't understand the weight of those questions and would dismiss them quickly, but won't that be dangerous or even more dangerous to care too much about them too? where is the red line?
  5. hmmm, interesting exercise\experiment Leo, i found the line stop at around a point near the back of my brain, top left for some reason, i tried it with different objects and distance and found the point stop the same point, but does that mean that my left eye is just stronger than my right eye or something (which matter of fact when i think about it is the case)? not trying to trash the true meaning of the training or anything by trying to justify the result, just wondering.
  6. just remember, making behavioral changes take a lot of time and practice, and human soul\body will resist that for some reasons at first, we as humans have complex defensive survival mechanisms that can even make you ill to stop you from doing something that you are really not comfortable with, even when you see the matter logically harmless, like touching a cat, telling the troth to someone you fear his anger, force yourself to go out when you don't feel like it, your body can do a lot of weird things to prevent what you want. so don't try to fix everything in your life at once and fast, take your problems one at a time and slowly. keeping up a progress over the time to reach your goal is more important than solving it as fast as possible, trying to solve any big issue or making huge changes can't be done immediately, except in movies or something ...
  7. Whenever you have questions like these try to search about the terms online, like what does socialization mean, to learn more about it. you usually get the answer like this, and try not to take the first answer, because usually the first answer that you will accept is what usually what you want to hear, compare results and see if you learned something new or not.
  8. Goals for today? i don't think you can do all of that in one day, can you? i mean ... maybe my work is different, but each task i do it usually take few days to Accomplish. but good luck in your work all the ways.
  9. well i don't know, i never smoked in my life but have many friends and even family members who smoke, and all of them wanted to quite that from time to time and i seen them struggle with, which make me guilty thinking i am safe from that sometimes. but as someone who was addicted to coffee in a crazy way when i was living a stressful life i found that stress encourage those behavior, so maybe if you reduced your stress you will find it easier to smoke less, the other thing i believe trying to kill the habit is quite wrong, to reduce it a lot that might work, but killing it all of sudden i never seen it work. the second point that i can offer i found myself every time i quite coffee i find myself drink diet soda, and people start to influence me to cut the soda even thought it is diet, but they say it what's make me fat, even thought i am fat all my life but whatever. but when i quite the soda i return to coffee and find other ppl telling me to quite the coffee, so i used to go back and forth, luckly i learned to give a middle finger to those ppl who want to change my habits and do what i want. so what i drink now you ask? well i drink both! but not as much as i did when i only drink one of them.
  10. not trying to put you down or anything, actually i am glad you noticed that and try to fix it, but attending classes and interacting with instructors would save you a lot of troubles. when i was in intermediate school there were a lot of people who didn't believe in learning and thought repelling against the system, instructors and the students were the smart choice, and i never understood them to be honest, they might thought it was the smart choice or thought this is waste of time, but you know, if you believe in that i encourage you to take it in this way: consider it your job even if it is easy and do your best, because if you fail doing this easy job how can you be successful in university or in real life?
  11. Thanks for this forum Leo, and all the admins who work on it.
