  1. Try it and see if you can be passionate about everything. Test it for yourself. Try becoming passionate for every topic there is. Realistically, how much can you do in <18 awake hours? What does "being passionate" even mean to you?
  2. @Shin Hmm. Sorry, I didn't get that it was a joke. I would think that many people on this forum would take that statement literally, so that's not ideal to put it that way.
  3. Medicine and meditation are not mutually exclusive. You can do both, I agree. My point is: if you are addicted, the wisest decision would be to seek professional help, because doctors are licensed and have a track record of helping people. Question everything you were lead to believe here. What if he is right and everything you were lead to believe here is wrong? Have you considered that?
  4. @AlphaAbundance The organism of a human primate has to rest and recover. Of course relaxing is a real, necessary thing. Everyone is different. Only you can answer those questions for yourself. Try working for 16 hours a day and not relaxing and see how that goes. Reduce your relaxation times and see how that goes and how far you can reduce your relaxing time. That's how you find the true answers. The answers are within your world and not on this forum. See which break activities work for you.
  5. What do you think is awakening? Question everything you were lead to believe in this forum about awakening. Awakening is probably not what you were lead to believe here. It's much simpler than that. Question, why do you try very hard to let go of ego? Why do you overcome that? Why do you feel you've hit a wall?
  6. @butcho Cool! Sorry that I misunderstood.
  7. @Telepresent Exactly. @Name Seek professional help. Therapy, psychiatrist, hotlines. Please get help. New age, enlightenment, meditation are not the answer. Please get professional, licensed, scientific help. Professionals have dealt with addictions before and have a good track record.
  8. Well, you wake up at 7am and recognize that there was no awareness of "you" between 11pm-4am. Maybe you had awareness let's say 4am-6am during a dream, and then there was no "you" again until you woke up. So you were NOT AWARE during some sleep parts. There was no awareness of "you". This is gaslighting (wiki gaslighting). This is a shaming tactic and just disassociates OP into thinking that he isn't "there" yet, that he has to seek for more. How can you know he is lazy and what he wants to think?> Reality is obvious and simple and OP already has seen it. He was unconscious during sleep. That's it. That's the simple explanation. It's great that you are able to be aware of the whole night during some night. @Shin Have you been aware of "you" for the whole duration of your lifetime or have there been times where you were unconscious? An honest answer would be great.
  9. Sleep is a biological process, occurring in human primates, which helps them regenerate to be able to continue living, hunting for food and procreating. The biological explanation is simple.
  10. @Raptorsin7 Yes fair enough. Let's continue in PM. @Fede83 Take a depression test online (google: "depression test", like this one https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/tests/health/depression-test). "stucked in my loop and believing that I’m enough and I don’t need friends" these are some symptoms of depression. You will probably have more depressive symptoms. The test results will show you if you are depressed. If money is a problem than spending it of professional help right now would be wiser in my opinion, because that's licensed help, instead of someone self-proclaimed. There are online therapy platforms (like Betterhelp). They are fairly cheap and even have discounts and financial support for people who don't have enough money. In my opinion: go to a therapist and do other things on the side. But get professional help. Ok I'm done in this thread.
  11. @Raptorsin7 Again to be on the same page, what is your definition of "love"? Is it your goal to feel "love" in everything you do and towards everyone? I care deeply about people who are close to me.
  12. @Raptorsin7 What do you mean by "in love with life"? What do you mean by that exactly? There can be various meanings.
  13. @Raptorsin7 Ok. I understand. You recognized what is missing for you now. And you want to get that. That's awesome! I have what I need. I live life now. Problems arise, but I'm content.
  14. @Raptorsin7 "I want to feel like superman and run 100 miles with ease" You are right, getting out of depression won't get you that. Please google a definition of depression. What does "feeling like superman" mean to you? I agree that medicine and doctors won't solve all your problems. Maybe you could ask your grandma if she feels is happy or if she even wants to change, instead of assuming that she is not and using that single personal anecdote that somehow medicine doesn't help.
  15. @Raptorsin7 Why do you want that? "make unhappy person into someone who is in love with their own existence" is exactly what getting out of depression means. And science can help with that. Did she say herself that she is not happy? Or are you assuming that based on what you see? @zeroISinfinity "Accept that right now you don't know. You just don't know and that's ok. " How can you assume what I don't know? You don't know me. You don't know what kind of experiences I've had. I have done various "spiritual practices" and had a variety of experiences
  16. @zeroISinfinity Well, I said that I don't understand, so I don't understand. Could you please explain what you mean? Could you please restate your sentence using words instead of emojis and being cryptic?
  17. @zeroISinfinity Sorry I don't understand what you are trying to say. @Raptorsin7 https://www.dbsalliance.org/education/depression/statistics/ Now show me the effectiveness of your approach on depression. "You didn't answer my question about your own direct experience of happiness and satisfaction." I'm content in life. I have been on the "path" for multiple years. I've had various experiences on the way.
  18. @Raptorsin7 "But doctors and therapists are unlikely to have a holistic view as how to improve one's life" How do you know that? Doctors I know, indeed work with a holistic view to improve lives of their patients as a whole. "do you any people in medical school" I have many friends in medical school and I know multiple doctors who are later in their lives. Most of them are really committed to doing their best to help people and put an incredible amount of work and discipline into their craft. "You are overestimating the extent to which medical help works in this area" Why is that? There is a proven track record for medicine helping depressed people and improving their lives.
  19. @Raptorsin7 So you would rather go to a random person with no credentials (life coach) than to someone who has spent 10 years in medical school, is licensed and uses proven medical research to help (therapist)? You can go to a life coach, and do other things, but to get out of a rut, medical help is the best way.
  20. @Matt8800 Yeah sorry, I was referring to OP. Burn the whole thing. Burn all ideas about reality, even the one about consciousness. How do you know that you are consciousness?
  21. @Raptorsin7 A therapist can do exactly what a "life coach" does. However compared to a life coach, a therapist is a licensed and trained professional who knows how to deal with depressed people and most likely has a great track record and relies on peer-reviewed and proven science. You could have good experiences with a "life coach", but again that shouldn't be the first place to go to when in a dark place.
  22. @Fede83 Yes you can get some benefits from meditation, but it won't solve your problems. If you are depressed, get professional help. Go to a therapist.
  23. @Raptorsin7 Exactly. You can do both. But if you are in a dark place, get professional help first and then possibly do other things on the side. Therapy, psychiatrist, hotlines and medicine have a great track record of helping people. Meditation and enlightenment can help, but not instantly. I feel like @Fede83 needs help right now and spirituality won't give him the kind of relief he needs.
  24. @Bridge to Infinity Why do you meditate in the first place? What are you trying to achieve with meditation? If you can't focus, you could talk to doctor and ask for their professional advice. It might be related to your mental health.
  25. Seek professional help. Therapy, psychiatrist, hotlines. Please get help. New age, enlightenment, meditation are not the answer. Please get professional, licensed, scientific help. Try to get at least some job, to get an income. Consider socializing or making new friends. The social connection might help during your hard time right now.
