measuring progress properly

when i want to ditch a habit that i find toxic, this is how i measure my progress... instead of counting the days i stay clean and restarting everytime i relapse, as if i were expecting some kind of prior perfection, i find a way to see my progress on the long run, avoiding losing data. suppose i want to quit porn, but atm i watch porn every 2 days. my goal would be to increase the gap between the days that i relapse. a systematic way of doing this is by using bars to plot those gaps: x represents the gap (1st, 2nd, 3rd etc) and y represents the number of days that i was able to do what i want to do. this is how a steady progress looks like:
