Scam Robots

Robots are definitely going to be a big game-changer, however, that is still a decade away and in the meantime we will have plenty of robot scams along the way as all the early robots will fail to live up to the hype and marketing BS.

There is a very realistic dystopian scenario here where most of the robots in the world will not be autonomous (because there will not be AGI) but just tele-operated by sweatshop labor from poor 3rd world countries. It looks likely that every rich household in America will have a robot who is actually just a poor teen wage slave from Bangladesh. I find this far more realistic than fully AGI robots.

Making the robot hardware is the easy part. Making the software is going to be almost impossible. So prepare yourself for robot scams.

Tech Bros have reinvented slavery while waxing poetic about techno-utopia. Now that’s some good Maya!
