How do you guys avoid breathing in a ton of cigarette smoke, when going out?

2nd hand smoke is way overrated.

Most people spend their whole lives smoking a pack a day and still don't get cancer.

Inhaling a bit of casino smoke will not kill you.

You need a ton of smoke for it to kill you.

Yeah but apparently second-hand smoke actually carries heavy metals like cadmium:

Thanks ya'll for the answers. I just had the realization the other day that I have been breathing it for years, almost on a weekly basis going out 1-3 times a week (not always to patios and terraces, oftentimes to clubs where there are no smokes).

And I'm pretty sure I will keep going out at least for a few years more, if not many more.

I have always tried to consciously or unconsciously avoid it or hold my breath as much as possible, especially when the smoke flies directly to my face (can't prevent inhaling it completely of course, not even close). But then I realized, what if this can cause serious issues later on?

So I got a little worried and started researching. After a while of finding so conflicting information, I started the thread.

And seems like it isn't crystal clear here either. I have the bias of taking Leo's answers more seriously but of course, I want to consider other answers seriously as well.

I don't mind a bit of breathing the smoke. The issue is that I have been quite hardcore at this and am still young so I still have many more years to come.

Just trying to be cautious and prevent any serious long-term illness.

I sense bias in your statements. Is there a lot of smoking that goes on in the Vegas nightclubs that you go to?

In any case, I’m glad that you’re enjoying doing all that stuff regardless of any potential health risk :)

@Leo Gura Are people who smoke inherently less intelligent? What about less conscious?

I personally know a smoker who does technical laboratory work.

I remember reading an account of Paramahansa Yogananda talking to a disciple. They were talking about if this student was going to be a student of Yogananda, under what conditions? May he drink alcohol? Smoke? Enjoy the opposite sex promiscuously? Yes, Yogananda said. But if he still wants to do these things after raising his consciousness, that he cannot guarantee.

There is def plenty of smoke, but clubs are fairly well ventelated a d have plenty of outdoor areas so it's not a big concern.

Depends how you define intelligence. Narrowly or broadly? Narrow intelligence is how most people think of it, in which case you can be intelligent and still engage in very unhealthy habits.

But there is a higher intelligence.

Alriiiiiiiiggghhtt...

Is someone with this so called ''higher intelligence'' still susceptible to smoking? I know Alan Watts was a cigarette user.

Would you ever date a smoker?

Generally not these days. Culture has changed. You should know better.

What about solo door-to-door cold-knocking daygame? That will grow a full beard on your babyface in no time

@Leo Gura wow, that's interesting. Here in Poland it's so common.

Would you though?

Lung cancer can also be caused by diesel gas, asbestos and other things like genes.

So you can add walking on the street to that list.

That being said I avoid second hand smoke like the plague
