The growing trend by Republicans attacking LGBTQ people should concern everyone

Anti-wokeness has become the mind virus dejour on the right. That won't stop any time soon. They will try to win elections with that for years to come. They're even calling banks woke now.

@Emerald The fact that they’ve become so aware of stage Green is proof of how close they are to it. The right wing today is at the late stages of orange, ORANGE/green. Awareness and knowledge of a particular stage is proof that you are close to it.

"Not believing your own thoughts, you’re free from the primal desire: the thought that reality should be different than it is. You realise the wordless, the unthinkable. You understand that any mystery is only what you yourself have created. In fact, there’s no mystery. Everything is as clear as day. It’s simple, because there really isn’t anything. There’s only the story appearing now. And not even that.” — Byron Katie

Oh, I don't know about that. Today's right-wing will sooner die of old age then evolve to Green.

It's like dragging an old cantankerous mule up a mountain.

Donald Trump did give a speech telling other countries to protect their LGBT community. This is obviously late Orange (at least).

I believe that only moderate Republicans and moderate conservatives in America are perhaps a mix of stage Blue, stage Orange, and some stage Green. Otherwise, most Republicans and conservatives in the US seem to have very little to no stage Green traits.

I think you're overusing that Fascist concept.

The right-wing does a similar thing when they keep refering to every Democrat as a socialist. These kind of slippery slop arguments are not very good. Not everything you dislike is a slippery slope to Hell.

The distinction between fears of left authoritarianism and fears of right authoritarianism is that the latter actually has the institutional power to back it up.

The furthest left federal government official in American politics is Bernie Sanders. And most of his positions are moderate from the perspective of other 1st world nations… things like free public college and single payer healthcare.

And America is so corporatist in its interests that even other Democrats fear mongered about Communism when Bernie ran for president.

So, there is no valid threat of left authoritarianism from within the US government.

But right wing authoritarians have a ton of institutional power on federal, state, and local levels. And the right wing propaganda machine is very effective and very well-oiled.

This is why concerns about right wing authoritarianism are not just an over-reaction to “things I dislike”.

The far right has been very effective at organizing themselves into a movement.  And it’s become so normalized that people just think it’s business as usual… like frogs in slowly boiling water.

The reason why Trump was saying that was because it was at a time when he was down in the polls to DeSantis.

So, he was trying to find ways to meaningfully differentiate himself from DeSantis to try to regain momentum when his political chances weren’t looking too good.

And he was seeking to corner the constituency of Log Cabin Republicans who are put off by DeSantis’s anti-LGBTQ stances.

I think this quote might have even been from when he attended a Log Cabin Republican event.

He also decided to stand firmly in not cutting anything from Social Security or Medicare to regain his momentum. And it seems to have been a good strategy for him because he’s polling much better now.

But I don’t expect him to support the LGBTQ community much now that he doesn’t need their support to win the primary.

He’ll go whichever direction suits his political aspirations the best. At the time it was cozying up to Log Cabin Republicans and now it’s not.

They’re typically late Blue to middle Orange… depending on whether they’re a more Traditionalist Conservative or Libertarian Conservative.

Most of them are very resistant to Green. And they don’t typically have an accurate idea of stage Green politics.

If you ask your average right winger what people on the left believe and why, they wouldn’t be able to give you an accurate answer.

That’s because they haven’t experienced Green yet. So, the mindset is foreign to them.

This is clearly an overreaction. Historically it was way worse for gays and the LGBTQ community. Nowadays it's not that bat at all, Progressives love to catastrophes all conservatives of being Fascists and Nazis, forgetting America and it's Allies fought Nazi Germany. Especially the onlune left does this. The right is justified in feeling uncomfortable or other feelings when LGBTQ community openly over celebrating in the mainstream, and some are concerned of trans confusion in some of the more left wing education places, just look at Sweden's attempt at gender neutral grooming programs. They're not justified in finding harmful ways to express those negative feelings and uncomfortable state, and I put blame on the online variations of these political groups due to how the internet increases neurosis and narcissism and crazies at either wings.

And stop supporting children beuty shows, that's far worse and should be illegal.

How can you think that progressives have all the cultural influence?

lmao if you can't see what everyone else does there is no evidence I can provide to convince you otherwise, so your question is a non-starter for me, sorry. It will be like trying to convey to a fish they are in water.

By the way it's not like I have an axe to grind either. When intellectually cornered and at the core of my spirit I'm likely more progressive than 9/10 people, I just differ on some specific issues and semantics.

Enjoy your night, cheers.

Every stage above Blue contains blue within it. Hence people can talk about Religion and family all day and still be at late Orange. If they were truly in late blue to middle orange, they would look like China and Russia today.

That is the absurdity of it.

He was barely able to read L G B T Q without slipping. Trump's handlers sure made him read it.

Obviously even the Republicans are not conservative enough to criminalize being LGBTQ at this point. That would be like Saudi Arabia levels of conservative.

It’s interesting that many conservatives are looking to Islamic societies for social values now

This is just a cop out.

Examples please.

Don’t make arguments you’re not prepared to defend.

Pop culture and intellectuals/universities, even conservatives follow the progressive agenda in society, just at a delayed pace.

What is the main argument between you two? You can be weaselly at the end, but why not address her claim and loaded question directly once?

What are those specific issues and semantics you differ from the progressives?

I don't care who started this heated discussion, but NO HEATED ARGUING AND DEBATE! Against forum guidelines. Try to address the key points in each of your argumentations without assassinating each others character, okay?
