physics vs chemistry

which is more important to understand and why?

do you think that you can study chem without any knowledge of physics? does physics come before chem?

chem is important for understanding bio.

biology is a fascinating thing, not engineering and processing metals. although engineering is also very relevant for understanding the world around and for education.

Depends if you want to know more about wet stuff than dry stuff.

Some of the concepts overlap, like the table of elements, temperature, energy or space and time. So technically, no. Physics comes before chemistry in the terms of things like particle physics and quantum physics (which informs the table of elements), but things like classical mechanics or astrophysics does not.

Physics is way more important imo. But it depends on the field you want to go into.

Bro that was not the intention xD Solutions are usually wet, biology is wet. Mechanical devices are dry, elementary particles are dry.

I think I want to know more about the wet stuff than dry stuff.

Ultimately, I want to know biology. How are we made? What are the chemical elements that exist on our planet? How do they combine and how is the reaction happening to create something? How is this possible? How do we test and prove stuff about human health? Where did all this come from?

What are the most important chemical elements? How are more complex stuff like medicine and supplements made by using chemistry? What is the equipment necessary and procedure to test and make medicine? Are we safe or are we being poisoned by big pharma and processed food industry, etc.?

So I am interested in chemistry because I want to know more about health and safety, as well as a bit of biology and how the evolution happened...

Depends on which one you need. You can probably learn a bit of both at the elementary level in your free time but if you are choosing a career pursuit, you may need to specialise. Not just on one particular but a sub-branch of it such as organic chemistry only or choose only one branch of physics.

Get some 101 biology, chemistry 101 and physics 101 book for high school students. Those are actually pretty good and if you can get through those, you will get a good baseline understanding of each.

You would probably prefer chemistry then. Especially organic chemistry.

@Michael569 those appear great. I will definitely try them one day. Thanks.

@spiritual memes yes, that is pretty correct, although organic chemistry doesn't make the devices that are used for analysing chemical compositions of stuff and so forth. Having a lab would ne a dream come true. Awesome.

That would be an ideal business, making supplements and medicine of high quality and so forth.

But I also want to understand how do computers store real world fucking complex images and sounds, literally different voices get stored on a piece of metal and reproduced in some kind of a sound box or on a screen. How is that? I's preplexed. That is some kind of a chemistry. Electricity writing information in binary numbers and those binary numbers capture it all so well. I just don't get it. The workings of computers are to me almost as mysterious as bodies of living beings.

That's more computer science and electrical engineering than physics

well both actually. there is some chemistry involved but its mostly electrical engineering and computer science.

It sounds like your focus is on the wrong thing. Focus on what you're naturally passionate about and interested in, not what is "most important" in some abstract sense. I guarantee that whether you learn all of math, physics, or chemistry, you will barely understand anything about the ultimate structure of reality. So just study what you enjoy most. If you like chemistry, just focus on that without worrying about physics. It doesn't matter that chemistry relies on physics.

I will definitely understand a lot more about reality, but not the ultimate structure. I'm passionate about it all to be honest. You can't love chemistry without loving math and physics, but yes, I actually feel more passionate about chem.
