"Awareness Alone Is Curative" episode question. Btw go watch it, it's great

Hello. Quick question:

The main message of the episode is that if one wants to change (auto-correct unwanted behaviors) the system that is the mind one should not engage into active action that is "forceful neurotic action" as Leo said.

Listen to this part, it is very eye opening 29:30- 38:00. "system is really helpless to change itself without awareness"

Fuck, this is what I have been struggling with for years. Falling into same behavioral pattern over and over again. I thought that change is impossible.

It may be that this is not all that there is but still. This is the exact problem I have been facing for 10 years or so.

Does the same principle apply for constructing wanted behaviors?

If yes, then how should one go about it?

Like, can I increase motivation through awareness or something?

If you become aware of what makes you feel good, it's a lot easier to do it.

Awarness is so importent. Still it can be quite hard to cultivate the habit of maintaining it and not do the things that you automatically always do.

To gain more awareness, you need to observe yourself regularly and pay attention to when unwanted behaviors are triggered. The best way to observe yourself, is to take a few minutes each day (or journal) and reflect on your actions and see what you can learn from them. Then, when you catch yourself doing something that you don't want to do, you try to stop it and replace it with a new behavior. It all takes practice.

All stories and explanations are false.

Yes, also by bringing awareness to emotions and resistance towards that behavioral change.

And bringing awareness to the identification with it.

And bringing awareness to the structure of your surroundings.

And to the beliefs you hold about it.
