What Sacrifices Have You Made?

8 posts in this topic

As we grow and self-actualize, we leave things behind. Much of our old ways die out. How have you changed? How hard has it been to let go?

Personally, I'm struggling a lot. I'm becoming increasingly aware of how my entire life has been completely pathetic, and I don't know where it's going. I feel like I'm growing so fast and so slowly at the same time.

Do what you don't do. Shed your shell.

Dance if you don't.

Say fuck you if you don't.

Sing if you don't.

Run if you don't.

Dress colorfully if you don't.

Eat healthy if you don't.

Love if you don't.

Cry if you don't.

Make jokes if you don't.

Practice if you don't.

Meditate if you don't.

Wake up if you don't.

Own rituals if you don't.

Shed roles if you don't.

Appreciate if you don't.

Hate if you don't.

BE YOU IF YOU DON'T.

I have just begun the journey. I pledged to give up junk food. Let me see if I stick to my plan.

Became a vegan - recently gave it up because meh, just another role - dropped it

Stopped meditation - just another role for "being a good spiritual seeker"

Stopped caring about fitness/weightlifting after 6 years of it(pretty hardcore, one of my most defined roles) dropped it

Lost interest in most media/entertainment

Stopped taking my life purpose to make money too seriously

My appearances

All of which felt good in the sense that I didn't "lose a part of me" once I did. Was more like a burden was gone. No all my energy is spent on inquiry and this journey.

Abandoned the followings:

  • Junk food life
  • Gym rat life
  • TV and social media
  • Toxic relationships
  • Talking everyday to my family
  • Buying clothes (seems fool but for women its a big thing) started investing the money in books instead
  • Lots of beliefs that I got from society/church/friends/family...

People are calling me crazy cause Im much calmer than I used to be, dont know where its leading me but since I feel good about myself and the things I do, I will just keep doing it, I feel like Im cleaning myself from all the labels, beliefs I had/ were given to me, It feels good af..

In the beggining can be really hard but its just bad habits, we are simple and perfect the way we are, no need to add unnecessary things..

Renounced the followings:

  • Lucrative government job
  • Multi millionaire parents
  • All friends and relatives
  • Non vegetarian food

To renounce poverty is not so easy, otherwise everyone would have renounced it, my task was easier !

A drastic change in your lifestyle brings the revelation easily, because it uproots you from your ground, it brings you to a totally new territory. You cannot remain the same, you have to change.
