Looking For Book Recommendations on Revealing Self-Deception

12 posts in this topic

I'm looking for the ultimate book that I could hand to someone, which will clearly reveal their self-deception and (more specifically) how they are trapped in a web of beliefs.

Ideally, I want this book to:

- Be easy to read (a child or elder should be able to understand it).
- Be as short & concise as possible.
- Be approachable for someone who's new to philosophy and epistemology.
- Focus on the deceptive nature of language/beliefs/concepts, and point the reader in the direction of actuality/consciousness.
- Not include too much religious or cultural baggage/dogma.
- An explanation of how to deconstruct your mind would be a nice bonus.

Thanks ^_^

I think this video really addresses a lot of your points.

Be careful being too demanding in relationships. Relate to the person at the level they are at, not where you need them to be.

It really does, but I'm looking for something like this in book form, not a video.

Reading one book will not profoundly change someones mind.

Either someone is motivated to pursue the truth or not.

If you want to impact people around you, youre gonna have to put a little more effort in than "handing out a book."

The best teacher on self deception imo is Vernon Howard and he has plenty of books or even audios

It is best to learn this from an enlightened being rather than an intellectual
