When Should I Expect Results?

5 posts in this topic

So I've been meditating since new years, 20 minutes every day, and I've been trying to use it as a way to help the process of ending my pornography addiction. I haven't really seen many results yet, which I believe is natural, as meditation has a curve, but when should I expect to see the meditation help me with this?

I'm afraid that in case of addiction, meditation alone isn't enough.

Learn everything there is to know about porn, and why it is bad for you, and make the elimination of this addicition your priority aside your meditation routine.

You will fail an incredible amount of time (could take years), but if you really want to get over it, you will.

Yeah, I used to think that I would never relapse again, and I would, of course. Now I've realized that relapsing is a part of recovery, and I'm beginning to accept that it may take a long time.

Solving your porn addiction won't solve the real problem. Why are you addicted to porn? Running away from reality and from suffering? Does porn give you something that you don't get otherwise(for example sleeping with a hot woman)? Contemplate about that!

Also, 20 minute meditation is in my opnion not enough. You should go at least 60 minutes a day,if you have time for that.

The results of meditation will kick in about 6 months, then it will be pretty easy to quit porn.

@Cjaryo

I agree with Shin, educate yourself on the topic and research how it is damaging. Thankfully there are a lot of people out there sharing their journey and reporting the many benefits of being free from consuming porn. Once you get a taste of the positive changes, it will get easier. I've been meditating for about 5 months, 15 minutes a day mostly and my 3 week break from PMO has been smooth so far.
