Having fun without alcohol

32 posts in this topic

Is it possible to have fun without alcohol but like you took alcohol? I know meditating and going out with a high presence can make things fun. I have done this and it is fun but it is not as fun as being drunk and being fool.

You just have to get in a super extroverted and positive state, and then keep it flowing. Easier said than done, it takes practice.

If you just pretend to be drunk for a while, you might be surprised that you'll actually start to act and feel like you've been drinking. Force yourself to laugh at everything, and before long everything will actually start to seem funny.

You might be able to placebo effect yourself by having a non-alcoholic drink and pretending there's alcohol in it. Remember as a teenager giving people drinks and saying there was alcohol in it when there wasn't, and they'd start acting like they were drunk anyways. It's mostly all just mental, you just need to give yourself permission to let loose.

It's like those movies where the hero has some item supposedly giving them their power. Then they lose that item, try anyway and succeed, and realize it was always within them all along and they didn't need the item. That's literally what alcohol is lol.

@StarStruck

I don't drink nowadays and I still go to bars and I am more going and extroverted than all other people here drinking their ass off.

Who told you that "others" are real?

Absolutely. I do this every other night.

@StarStruck I mean you can have no fun even with alcohol. I think it’s about having your life sorted out so you don’t have to many worries that press you down and then the right people and practice in socializing.

Microdosing can also help a lot. I wouldn’t trade being a little high in a good mood for being drunk in a good mood.

@Socrates yes, he has just said he is having as much fun as people drinking alcohol without actually drinking any every other night.

I've tried this sort of strategy in the past, and it only left me feeling exhausted, inauthentic, and empty afterwards.

What has worked for me is to embrace my introvertedness. That doesn't mean I only stay in my shell. Whenever I tried to be "extroverted", I'd either try too hard and end up being cringey, or I would freeze completely.

So what I've been doing is:

• Letting go of all should statements ("I should be talkative, funny, extroverted, etc").

• Stop forcing myself too much

Focusing on making small inputs that I truly want.

This way, I get a sense that I'm contributing to the conversation (and therefore get a sense of belongingness) + because I don't speak that much, when I do, people truly pay attention.

I doubt there's a hidden hack which will make you feel drunk without the side effects. Some questions regarding drinking:

1) Do you exaggerate?

2) Is it causing you any substantial harm?

I've actually noticed that the few times I've talked to people who've had a few drinks without drinking anything myself, I easily get into that party mood where I'll talk a little louder and make jokes. A lot of the party mood is really just a mood. Try drinking alone (don't) and see the difference.

About drinking alone, back in my weed smoking days, I would try experimenting by adding a few beers into the mix, and I found it was a complete letdown. It's like the alcohol completely removes the manic velocity and interconnectivity of ideas, which was the main thing that I liked about weed.

If you surround yourself with other people having fun without alcohol it makes it much more plausible.

I also was born with perfect pitch. I can play any instrument by ear and wowed all my professors in collage. It's insane. People cannot hear nor feel music!! Especially you. I listen to the music you post and it is absolutely garbage. With perfect pitch I can feel and heat the gravitational pull of sound. It occurs In a colorful geometric way. It's impossible to explain... I cry every morning if beethoven is played during the morning.

How do I cope with this?

What do you think of the Steve Vai collab video in the Freak thread? xD

I love your genetic freak video. I took a break from here because I just don't fit in. I am a genetic freak. Spiritually that is. Every night I lucid dream and have profound mathematical formulas my conscious psyche cannot comprehend - appear to me. If not that, I can see paranormal events others cannot see but can witness.

I use alcohol to place a threshold on such a thing. I don't like how you make it seem so great. A gift is only great to those who have a sufficiency in such areas. It's just normal for me.

Of course being a genetic freak is not guranteed to be great. Most genetic freaks die early.

I don't know how to cope with your thing. You'll have to discover that through trial and error.

@Tahuti If you wish to discuss that stuff this is not the right thread for that.

You use alcohol because you have a completely standard substance abuse problem just like hundreds of millions of normal people. Don't use your gifts as an excuse. Put in the work to quit.

If I'm in the mood I don't need alcohol but sometimes I'm not just in the mood and alcohol loosens me up. If I'm out there for 1-2 hours it is ok and I can push being in the flow of the night but when I'm in a bad mood and can't find my flow; I'm better of just going home rather than forcing myself to be present, have fun and be in the flow.

Alcohol is in a sense a super power, it is called Dutch courage for a reason. It is a super poison that gives you special powers. It can make a bad night a good night. Dancing becomes more fun too.

Yes, it is possible. Having fun without alcohol, is like sharing a honey with your bald cohorts, while watch some Netflix pornos with some popcorns. No, really? Yes, deary, I swear it's that easy, wearing bling to attract them chicks makes them dreary eyed for your French fries...dry sense of humor, unlike them juicy puns.
