What does it mean to ask “WHY?”

14 posts in this topic

What is asking why? What are u really asking?

When you ask “how?” you can get an answer to how it happened by understanding it’s construction

But “why?” doesn’t make any sense because things just are, there doesn’t seem to be any “why” to it, no reason to it really.

Why is there a cup?

How did the cup come to get there?

Why is just the troubled form of how, if you're gonna sit on the "but why" diving board of the public swimming pool forever the lifeguard might make you come down.

You're asking for the conditionally troubled answer is the point

It goes back to when you used to get a different sense of attention when punished. And you noticed the same feelings of attention arise in your parents when the same question arose. They usually don't know that the process is just as simple as ascribing the word to how the word made others feel and how it melded into how you used to feel.

So a lot of us still have the meaning of "attention" mixed in with "problematic being."

"Why" is already presupposing an intellectual problem. always, everytime.

You are right. Ultimatly there is no reason for existence. Because reason is already part of existence (the existence of the reason). Prior to that there ist nothing that could cause existence. The chain of reasoning ends with the question „why is there existence“

"Why" is asked when we want to know the reason for something. Humans care about reasons, we constantly seek reasons for anything in this world because it give us sense of safety, meaning and control.

Why is a legit question.

Why do you eat food?

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

"Why" perhaps is the most importent question that there is. Even more importent than "How". If you ask yourself "How" to do x, y, z it's only because you have agreed on a reason or a motive to do that, which you find with the aid of the question "why".

Reason / understanding,

Eg. if you question your behavior in an ordinary state of consciousness and try to get to the true cause you can pretty qucikly reach heightened states. Because you are then seeing more of yourself. That is why some traditions emphasize behavior change. If you do it many times a day and ask good questions it can get pretty trippy.

If you question something more interesting this way, especially on psychadelics or after serious meditation practice, you can quickly gain high understanding.

When I contemplate "Why is there reality?" it takes me deeper than "how is there reality?". You really put yourself in shoes of Bored God, that out of Love and Will created all this beauty. Why is the most important question. And "out of Love " is the most profound answer.

"Why?" is to separation what dopamine is to boredom. Similarly addictive, and a very temporary fix.

"Why?" is useful for dream characters to go about their dream business.

In truth there is no why. Enlightenment exposes such a notion as merely a dream.

Apparently.

Maybe why is asked by god so it can create a backstory to anything and everything and entertain itself some more
