Porn affects marriage rates, which impacts the production of children for the machine of society. Without replacement rate of population being at least 2.5 society will collapse in a couple generations. So they need more worker bees to keep the machine functioning.

Its the same reason they outlaw prostitution.

People in general are becoming more financially stable / independent as society progresses, and women are less reliant on men for survival and have less need to trap themselves in relationships they don't want to be in. You have to actually be someone women want to be with, not need to be with.

I think of porn like most other things: it depends on your relationship with it. Personally, my biggest concern with porn is that it's another highly stimulating activity that makes it harder to enjoy the more mundane stuff and it can lead to habits that can cause sexual problems such as ED, premature ejaculation and so on. 

I see many people against porn comparing it to sexual abuse. I think that's just an ideology they haven't really thought about in depth, similar to some religious people who say masturbation is bad without questioning that belieg. Of cours there's abuse and crimes in the porn industry, but that doesn't mean all porn is sexual abuse. Like wtf lol a girl who makes a lot of money through her onlyfans isn't being abused. As long as people do it voluntarily I have no problem at all with. Just be mindful of how it affects you.

I think that the problem with porn is that it presents unreal sex expectations, misleading about sex and women in general, it presents sex as something artificial while missing other aspects of sex. It focuses too much on the look of the body and genitals which affects self esteem of both men and women. It's addictive because it manipulates and uses effects of visual and sound (like in other movies) to make people feel more aroused. It's literally the junk food of sexuality. 

I'm not sure that porn is the problem, the problem is the way it's done and how it presents sex, power dynamics and relationships between men and women. Most porn done in a very low conscious way, sexist, shallow.

I'm sure there are more highly conscious ways to do sex films, maybe to make it more erotic, more poetic, more artistic, more deep...

- porn objecticifies people which will rub off onto you 

- creates fantasies and misconceptions of sex 

- create false expectations of body image 

- can lead to porn / masturbation addiction 

- can have some parasocial aspects to it 

- is usually used as an escapism

But... it's fun. Like alcohol. Should be used in moderation

Nope the reasons I listed is the reason why. Trust me, you let the red district loose, men won't waste their time getting married. The main reason men marry in the first place in general is to lock a woman down for access to sex. Obviously not talking about all men, but majority of men would shell out 5 bucks a weekend and live the bachelor lifestyle than actually commit to a marriage. 

In fact...its happening right now. Prostitution is going to become legalized in a lot of places since the Government doesn't want to fund the many women and children that are going to be on the streets because of the global economic collapse. Expend to hear a lot of reports of prostitution deals for rent. You will also hear about rent a girlfriend/friends with benefit deals. Its going to be real ugly for the next 2 years.

There is a lot of stigma around porn and masturbation. Also, post-nut clarity. Sexual activity in general is not the cleanest and most hygienic thing, it puts you in a somewhat primitive state of mind, so people are more likely to feel bad about it afterwards. Like, "OMG I can't believe I was acting like such an animal a few seconds ago, shame on me". This kind of mentality. I have never struggled with this personally.

I think people do overreact in regards to porn. They will have some other activity they do which is much worse and then harp on you watching porn. You will have some guy who religiously follows no-fap and then eats Mcdonald's every single day, like you can tell their priorities and views towards porn are skewed. They view it as "dirty" and "beta". Most people don't know shit about sexuality in general and aren't very comfortable about it, so the extreme backlash kind of makes sense. It's ignorance.

Yeah you can become addicted and obsessed, and there is potential for it to cause significant damage, just like a bunch of other things in life which are not ostracized nearly as much.

This is an interesting statistic, but I can guarantee if you ask the average joe off the street what their reason for hating porn is, they will not say this. Just thought this was an important nuance to point out, as the question is why are so many people against porn. The title is hinting at an overreaction, which I agree with. I doubt many people will have this reasoning at hand.

There might be reasons to keep porn moderated, like this one. But I think in our current society we are overreacting and using reasons that don't make much sense.

There is always a price for the quick fix. Porn is a quick fix and if you think there is no price tag to that, it is your own choice. 

If you really want to get into “why porn is bad” read the literature. Enough studies done on the topic. Sexual energy is important for a man. Buddhism explains it wonderfully. Sexual transmutation if mastered is explosive. It is hard to do and I can only understate how powerful it is. 

People misrepresent the no fap community all the time. The community doesn’t say porn is bad. You do you but don’t go around telling people there is no price tag to a quick fix. That is what a crack dealer does.
