Major developments in the Russo-Ukraine war

@Scholar good video.

I was wondering about the Russian strategy. They are using a lot of ammunition on civilian targets even though the equipment Russia sends with its troops is getting more obsolete. It seems like a waste of limited ammunition to kill civilians, but Putin is trying to win the war through brute force and intimidation.

A significant escalation has occurred.

Russia launched 90 missiles at power infrastructure across Ukraine. Ukraine has improved its air defenses substantially and managed to shoot down 73 of the missiles.

In the process there was a spillover. Poland was not by a missile and they are considering going to war with Russia for attacking NATO territory. Sweden and Croatia have increased the amount of aid sent to Ukraine in response to these attacks. Putin did not accomplish much with these attacks because engineers have been working tirelessly to restore power to Ukraine. These strikes on civilian targets continue to embolden the Ukrainian people.

There have also been various reports of amphibious assaults on the south western region of Ukraine. Ukrainian forces are attempting to to establish a foothold South of Kherson. This would bring the Ukrainian army close to the Crimean peninsula.

@Hello from Russia , Moscow has a higher concentration of Stage Orange and Green people than other Russian cities. And the rural population is mainly Stage Purple, Red and Blue. The Purple component is actually quite strong there. The people who rule Russia are also largely Stage Purple and Red, so they have common values with the “uneducated masses” and get their full support. And the Kremlin propaganda messages are based largely on the Purple and Red values reinforcing this support.

Another barrage of Russian missiles hit Ukrainian power infrastructure. This time the air defenses were overwhelmed and more damage was caused than before. More civilians died and Europe has voted to label Russia's operation state sponsored terrorism. There will be more information on the missile attacks in the coming days.

Heavy fighting is still happening by Bahkmut, a strategically important city that Russia has been trying to take. Ukraine is continuing most of its counter offensive operations to the south of Kherson through himar and artillery strikes. Sometimes parts of crimea are being hit. Ukraine intends to take back all of this territory.

I still don’t get why it took them 9 months to do that, it was pretty clear months ago that russia was a terrorist state

The past couple of weeks have mostly been a standstill. The Russian missile attacks continue to target Ukrainian infrastructure. This has caused multiple blackouts even in neighboring countries which share a power grid with Ukraine.

Ukraine appears to be firing back deep into Russian territory, aiming for fuel depots and air fields. This is a risky move in that accidents happens and the Ukrainian forces may hurt Russian civilians in the process. Zelensky seems confident in his army's long range capabilities and accepts this risk.

Heavy fighting has still been happening around bahkmut. Russian forces are encroaching from many angles, but at the moment Ukraine is holding the destroyed city. Meanwhile, Ukraine continues its counterattack toward kremina and they are disputing many towns and roads along the way.

The United States and other countries are working to restore the energy grid in Ukraine and other nearby countries by sending aid packages over.

America must be suicidally depressed. Why else would it be begging so strongly to get nuked by sending those patriot missiles to Ukraine?

Well, when you don't take one side's survival agenda seriously, don't be surprised when you get a war.

Putin clearly said that NATO expansion would force his hand to take rebalancing moves.

Everything he does is about his personal survival agenda: his aims, his fears, his interests (and those of his ‘close circle’/ clan). He doesn’t care about anybody else. His interests include money, personal security, power/control, vanity/fame. I heard that he wanted his name to be mentioned in the school history books as the one who gathered back the Russian territories that had been unfairly given away in the past. Therefore he decided to get Crimea back, to begin with. Then he planned to gain control over the whole territory of Ukraine, not wanting to let it go and become a free democratic country.  And all he has ever said was to hide his true intentions and thoughts.

As for money, I heard they have announced public contracts for reconstruction of the occupied territories that they have themselves destroyed. And the biggest public contracts are usually awarded to the people from his ‘close circle’.

Lately there has been some bad news for Ukraine.

Russia launched several more missile strikes targeting civilian infrastructure. The Russian army is sending just enough to overwhelm the Ukrainian air defenses and it is causing blackouts for millions of people.

The Ukrainian counter offensive has stalled through the winter and the momentum is swinging in favor of the Russians again. They are making substantial progress around bakhmut, a heavily fortified city that is under heavy artillery fire. Soledar was captured and the Ukrainian lines are in jeopardy of collapsing.

Further Ukrainian aid has been delayed in the European union. Meanwhile Russia may be preparing a second mobilization. In order to counter this Ukraine may need to mobilize more troops as well. Russia in conjunction with the Wagner group are overwhelming the Ukrainian forces by recruiting prisoners and sending them as cannon fodder to the front line.

Russia is getting the upper hand at the moment due to the brute force and size of the military. There are further rumors of Belarus joining in on the invasion of Ukraine.

It doesn’t look as dire as you make it sound. No COPIUM on my end, unlike from the Russian side. What we see is a stalemate with both sides gearing up for offensives in the spring. Remember how the last stalemate ended? For Russia, the best they can do now is a stalemate and hope for a frozen conflict.

The russian troops have broken through major defensives of the ukrainians. Seems that bakmut is about to fall soon and the way to sloviansk and kramatorsk will be open shouldn't the ukrainian forces be able to stabilize the front in the open fields.

The russians use what has always worked for them. Attack through sheer mass and brute force and it works because the ukrainian troops are forced to through soldiers and material back at them to slow them down and have casualties in similiar numbers. But the ukrainians have a higher survival rate if heavily injured.

Last december I read in the newspaper an interview with an former us special forces soldier who trains ukrainian rekrutes and he told that they have only a few weeks to train the soldiers because ukrainien forces have problems to replace them because the fighting grinds both armies down.

So Germany and Olaf Scholz blocks Ukraine from getting western tanks.

Germany and Scholz will forever be remembered for being the country who gave Russia the victory, and therefore will also be responsible for future wars because authoritarian regimes learned that starting wars gives them what they want.

Don't buy German products.

Luckily Germany refuses to be a cuck of US interests unlike Sweden.

@no_name I don't get it, what does prolonging the war have to do with empathy? More weapons mean more people will die.

So if a murderer gets into your house and you ask for help we should all just refuse to give you help because providing help will just “prolong the conflict”?
