@LSD-Rumi I will repeat again: Transgender people are transgender regardless if they accept their body or not. You cannot compare being transgender with being ugly or beautiful. These are two separate issues.

Trans-people are trans-people regardless if they are "beautiful" or "ugly".

Same with us: We are cisgender regardless if we are "beautiful" or "ugly".

The unacceptance of their body does not make them trans.

  1. @Bojan V  If  what I say is not widely expressed in leftest circles that doesn't make it wrong. Embracing and supporting Trans people doesn't conflict with what I am suggesting. Gender dysphoria, is a mental illness and we are merely  trying to find which line of treatment works better.
  2. Also, hormonal therapy will not work well for everyone, and some trans people will end up in rather unattractive bodies after transitioning.
  3. Also, A good life lesson to learn, is to accept bad situation rather than resisting them and from there work on solving them. Self acceptance is a very valid thing even for people who decide to go into the transtioning path, There should be a base of acceptance before transtioning, otherwise, it would be somewhat an unhealthy response.

The surgery thing seems really extreme. I personally know that I don't know enough about the issue to comment absolutely. But I know for sure that if I ever had a son and his teachers started telling him that he can become a girl if he wants, I'll be having words with the board or changing schools. I don't care if other parents encourage their kids to cut their dicks off, im good. Unless there was some really authentic thing...if I seen a really deep and authentic issue. But I'd be much more prepared to entertain that he's maybe just trying to figure himself out and I think it's very possible that people can be wrong in their own self discovery and confused like Leo says...I would certain explore this possibility first...it feels like people are scared to question these things, like it's sacred social justice territory..

@Aaron p Are you aware that you are just repeating right-wing talking points?

Stop consuming right-wing media. And stop pretending that any of those questions have significant impact on you or society at large.

Instead, try reading a book on politics. Try to understand patterns that have an actual significant impact on society and you, like the wealth gap, workers' rights, democracy, women's rights, etc.

Don't get caught up in all that culture war bs, it's a distraction from the real issues. The right will try real hard to look for the most extreme examples of "cultural degeneracy" to distract you from the injustices you face. Consider the idea that some issues require a degree of empathy and complexity of thought that you do not yet possess.

better yet watch the latest episode and sit in a room for an hour by yourself

@Godhead I'm very well aware that I'm cherry picking right wing favourite talking points to critique the left...and I know these points are probably not the main reasons why libertarianism should be supported. I'm aware. I guess I'm just checking some of the extreme stuff out. Im a bit of an extremist myself...I'm extremely normal

The problem with doing this is, that you'll let the right-wing dictate your way of thinking. Instead of generating independent thoughts, you'll think in their pre-made categories.

I'd also encourage you to do some research on the term libertarianism. There are right-libs, left-lib, lib socialists, neo-libs, etc. It's a pretty loaded term and I get the feeling that you don't fully grasp the meaning.

@LSD-Rumi I don't care about left-wingers or right-wingers. I am neither.

Why should transgender people live as we tell them? Gender disphoria is a construct made by transphobic people and their standards, which is ironic considering that they contributed to their problems.

Gender dysphoria is the name of the disease, trans people have. It is a recognized mental illness because it cause dysfunction.

We are just trying to find out the right line of action. Is it psychological or medical therapy?

This line of thinking is problematic. of course, teachers can explain to children the concept of gender and to teach them to respect trans people, and also to support and guide children with gender dysphoria. This the least to expect from a teacher. if you don't like that, go and live in Florida or something, lol.
