Does Heavy Metal Music Have An Impact On Your Consciousness Or Happiness? Vibes?

Well, that is the problem with forums like these. They present us with great oppurtunities for a spirited and interesting debate, but some people just want the easy and superficial answers. The truth is that even the most "easy" areas of debate can be extremely complicated when you uncover them layer by layer. But the thing is, that requires intellectual labour, which is something most people wont do. So instead of actually contemplating a foreign or different idea, its easy to discredit it. In the end its their loss, because by discrediting things that are foreign to them they rob themselves of interesting and new experiences.

Preach man. Empathic abilities and radical open mindedness is definitely lacking with most members. Shocking comments.

Heavy metal music is not good for body and mind. Avoid it totally

@carlos flores I have to agree with this from personal experience. As much as I love heavy metal and as much as I enjoy listening to it, it comes with disadvantages. It literally lowers your vibration, sometimes by a lot. It can even make you angry or depressed. The more death, scream or trash and the likes the metal is, the worse the effect gets. I get bad mood every time I listen to Metal often. And I used to listen to metal quite a lot. Now I listen to other music, which is in it's essence more uplifting and positive, and simply more beautiful. The raise in vibration is very clear to me.

Check this out:

What happens to the water when it gets exposed to negative words is the same what happens to you when you expose yourself to negative music like heavy metal. The crystals turn to disfigured, ugly rotten shit. And so does our frequency and we ourselves too. Don't endulge too much in negative stuff. Same with horror films and the likes.

might also add this, but you can educate yourself even more on it. And in my previous post when I say from my personal experience you bet that I really mean it. Letting go of heavy metal and horror movies was a life changer for me. It's like my whole being was purified and I was getting happier and more positive. Just saw heavy metal music is an example in this video, so pay attention.

Music is very important, for the right kind of music will heal you, and the wrong kind of music will damage you. Try it out, listen to heavy metal, then listen to healing music. Notice the difference in your body and your feelings, practice a little self awareness

@Bronsoval I actually did realize that I became more open to some of these topics more when I started listening to metal more. It made me feel a bit more comfortable.

I like it because it causes me to be aware of the Shadow.  All of the "negative" aspects of life are a part of reality and it's foolish to ignore them. It's not all i listen to though

Dr Hawkins concludes that "the music of Bach makes everyone go strong, even if they don't personally like it, just as heavy metal music makes all subjects go weak, even if they personally prefer it."

Dr Hawkins says that , “Among our test subjects, punk rock, death rock and gangster rap music made every subject go weak, confirming earlier observations made by Dr. John Diamond.”

Check out TOMATIS-method and Music therapy in general! Read some books to learn about the frequencies impact on the body and mind, not just airy-fairy new age research. There is a lot of research done, and many good sources.

Music has a lot of different purposes phsycologically as well, the music you use to work out, to relax, to empower yourself or to cry can be totally different. I am a musician myself, studying classical music. In my teens I listened and played a lot of Black Metal/Rock, and it really helped to get my life and passions on track, to get out aggression, to feel alive, to feel great.

"Heavy Metal" is getting shredded by too broad of a stroke. It's relative to the listener, or the water, or the termites, or the player, or whatever.  A good deal of metal lyrics are about PD, unity, compassion, etc. Here's a favorite, tell me you can't relate to this wisdom....

Lyrics

Almost every day
I see the same face
On broken picture tube
It fits the attitude
If you could see yourself
You put you on a shelf
Your verbal masturbate
Promise to nauseate
Today I'll play the part of non-parent
Not make a hundred rules
For you to know about yoursef
Not lie and make you believe
What's evil is making love
and making friends
and meeting God you're own way
The right way

To see
To bleed
Cannot be taught
In turn
You're making us
Fucking hostile

We stand alone

The truth in right and wrong
The boundaries of the law
You seem to miss the point.   (SCROLL)
Arresting for a joint?
You seem to wonder why
Hundreds of people die
You're writing tickets man
My mom got jumped -- they ran!
Now I'll play a public servant

To serve and protect
By the law and the state
I'd bust the punks
That rape steal and murder
And leave you be
If you crossed me
I'd shake your hand like a man
Not a god

To see
To bleed
Cannot be taught
In turn
You're making us
Fucking hostile

Come meet your maker, boy
Some things you can't enjoy
Because of heaven/hell
A fucking wives' tale
They put it in your head
Then put you in your bed
He's watching say your prayers
Cause God is everywhere
Now I'll play a man learning priesthood
Who's about to take the ultimate test in life
I'd question things because I am human
And call NO ONE my father who's no closer that a stranger

I won't listen

To see
To bleed
Cannot be taught
In turn
You're making us
Fucking hostile

I think it kinda depends on the way you listen to the music.

I myself blast metal music alot, and it usually makes me happy and I mostly listen to while I am in a good energetic mood. Eventough the lyrics is pretty fucked up I don't relate to the lyrics at all, I often find the lyrics funny because its so ridicolous.

As long as your not some emo kid crying while listening to metal, In my opinion I don't see any problem with it.

Based on that research, it seems that @Loreena was quite right to say what she did.

So, I don't think there's anything inherently negative with enjoying metal and it's important to be honest and not resist what you truly enjoy. However, just be sure that it doesn't feed into an unhealthy ego- identity, and that you can separate out the wheat from the chaff.

A person can enjoy music without identifying with culture behind it.  As in: "I enjoy metal, but i am not a metal head."  You might be called a poser or fake or whatever. So what?  You are allowed to like what you want.

@Leo Gura the important thing to remember here is that Bach wrote a Symphony called "Air on a G String"

I don't see how this relates to what I said. Can you clarify?

@Leo Gura that's quite interesting! I find it funny that it says it weakens your muscles, I know a lot of people who say they are able to work out better because they listen heavy metal. Maybe they should be listening to classical instead? lol.
