Daniel Schmachtenburger, on energy podcast, part 3, shots fired.

41 posts in this topic

I read a book not that long ago that talked about “Over-unity devices”. Which is another term for devices that output more energy than they input, or free energy.

For reference:

https://www.newenergymovement.org/

Supposedly these devices are real and have been seriously tested to work. If so, this puts an interesting wrench in Nate’s theory.

At the same time, it doesn’t seem these devices will be mass available any time soon. And it does seem that we can cut a large portion of the economy / collective energy expenditure and only be better off for it. Do we really need bowling alleys or plastic garden gnomes?

Understandably if I owned a bowling alley I wouldn’t like that, but in a few generations I doubt anyone would really miss it. So we may wish to do this regardless of whether our energy limits are approaching.

There is unlimited energy on this planet. The only question is how to grab it.

Fundamentally, worrying about energy is silly.

Someone has to worry about it. Even if it was somehow inherently baked into our system to keep evolving (like that chicken hatching example), someone has to play worried scientist and someone has to play inventor. We may just as well run out of energy and resources, before finding the next big breakthrough, and have to massively downscale (which is kinda what Nate is getting at with his "Great Simplification").

So you think it would influence his work and tone, if he were to awaken more deeply?

Of course

Yes, someone has to sit down and actually invent some useful technology. That's what I suggest you do rather than stewing in doom porn.

The time you spend crying about climate change could be invested in actually generating clean energy.

Fair enough. It's just so damn interesting, but yeah, I got the message, maybe I should hang up the phone on Nate.

I'm the one who recommended him to you.

Just understand the limits.

I found him first :P

Im trying not to push it, but when I see Schmachtenberger in my inbox, I can't help myself.

The problem with all this complexity/systems theory is, that I could probably spend the rest of my life going down that rabbit hole, without getting to the bottom of anything. I guess at some point you just have to pick your poison and focus on actually advancing something.

Its not simply that energy will be needed, but the fact that as you advance with tech, that advanced tech at some point becomes so cheap, that it will be distributed to everyone. So now everyone will have that tech , everyone will use more energy and because of that advanced tech, we can invent more advanced tech and the cycle repeats.  So the more cheaper we can distribute advanced tech, the more energy we will collectively end up using and craving.

You need finite resources to build whatever tech we are talking about and because of the exponential growth, at some point natural resources won't be able to keep up with us. That is basically the rationale here.

Its not really about whether we will be fucked or not, its more about whether we will have to slow down economically and realise that everyone don't have to have the most advanced cutting edge stuff all the time.

That's much easier said than done. Meeting our energy needs without destroying the environment in the process is a huge challenge in both politics and engineering.

Actually I think he is.

What makes you say so, have you heard him reference God Consciousness? His work doesn't seem geared towards awakening per se.

I have watched a few of his interviews and didn't really get the feeling that he knows about the possibility of becoming infinitely conscious.

To be fair, I haven't really looked into his work that well though.

And I got no problem with that. I know he understands their power.

I wasn't really speaking to him, I was speaking to people here who are misunderstanding what he said.

Actually I think he is. And I got no problem with him.

Nate's whole channel is doom porn in a sense.

The human race is not going extinct. This is absurd to worry about.

The problem is that people who take his channel too seriously are going to become paranoid about nothing.

You did warn it was a possibility though Leo. So you can't say its not going extinct when you said it was probable. There was also a forum post in the past where you said you were open to the possibility that this could happen and that it doesn't impact the overall universe as if it is needed then it would be a net positive.

Your ACTIONS REVEAL how you REALLY FEEL. Want TRUTH? Observe and ADMIT, do the OPPOSITE of what you usually do which is observe and DENY. - Razard86

Think about it.....Leo gave the best definition of the truth I ever heard...."The truth is what is..." so if that is the truth.... YOUR ACTIONS IN THE PRESENT ARE THE TRUTH!! It's what's happening....do you like what you see? Can you accept it? You are just a SENTIENT MIRROR, OBSERVING ITS REFLECTION..... can you accept what appears? -Razard86

He is probably trying to balance the negative takes with a positive one. He is not trying to be consistent with his take, he would rather make us productive than make us more worried (i assume).

Yes, there will be challenges. But everything mankind destroys can be recreated and made even better. We are going to terraform the entire planet anyways so its a moot point.

@Leo Gura One day, biologically engineering organisms will be a whole career field. People will be creating new creatures like in Jurassic park.

perhaps in the long term but if we fuck up the environment, life is going to suck for the next few centuries. A lot of organisms will go extinct and ecosystems will be destroyed. These things can't be so easily recreated

Yeah, well, telling people not to consume energy doesn't work.

Personally, I don't think about what can't be solved. I just let the engineers think about it, and enjoy my life.

@BuddhistLover the engineers don't have time to think about these problems. They are chained to the capitalist system and work for its benefits.
