The Power of Positive Thinking and God

5 posts in this topic

I've been reading the Power of Positive thinking, and I've come across the issue of it conflicting with Leo's teachings. Such as the author telling you to believe in God - the sky man God - and apply various techniques to harness his power, but Leo says God is Infinite Love. And then there are more issues related to Christ and other things...

How should I go about applying its teachings?

Ah this is an interesting subject as well.

I am coming at this from a non-spiritual perspective and instead looking at this through power of the mind and its ability to influence the human body.

This describes the relationship between the imagination and its influence on our emotional reality by influencing the body through the power of the prefrontal cortex vs our bodies ability to respond to our own beliefs and our ability to induce belief.

My reductionistic perspective is bottled up in glass that swims in the great ocean of the spiritual unknown, aka I just have no idea personally at this point of my development even though to the opposite end of that I indeed do, my former stance is with respect to being mindful of how I influence the collectives imperative and when I do, the qualities I ingest when doing so.

I recommend right now simply imagining a completely anti-god that is god in an anti-our-universe and then imagine that anything you ask from this god will be granted. Imagine yourself as a completely different kind of being.

Upon having any wish you want granted in this imaginary world, do you notice revenue the slightest change in your physiological state?

This is the reductionistic correspondence I find between the imagination and spiritual beliefs like those espoused by demographics with “spiritual positive thinking” like those relating to persons espousing those suggestions.

Its a classic case of “the power of belief” as per what is becoming more and more popular within the meme of the “placebo effect”.

What is the relationship between what we experience in our imagination and reality, is an open question to me, simply because many spiritual insights can be uncovered via the imagination in a way that can sometimes come across as far too spontaneous to be thought of as purely imaginary. I honestly become shocked at the fluidity by which I uncover my spiritual insights through the imagination with little to no effort compared to long and extended cognitive thought. It’s like having a “calculator with wings”.

I notice a very arrogant disposition in myself with respect to my own personal insights that doesn’t have logical correspondence with this view on how to gather spiritual insights, because a twin of me born in another country could just be so much more spiritually advanced than me simply because of their novel experiences and their reflections on those.

This is why I don’t judge on the one hand while including open mindedness while on the other having broad judgement in relation to my own insights while noticing their limitations combined with recognising that the limitations of modern views on how to generate personal spiritual insight puts personal insight on a valid pedestal. Meaning in all instances, there’s a large space for underestimation with respect to what’s possible and real while on the other because we often leverage our self perspective on where modern culture is compared to us, it is very easy to overestimate our own abilities, and I speak of myself here first and foremost, to create an endless multiplier of perspective that lives beyond me and those that believe in “the man in the clouds”, which is limited by peoples analogically capacities and our time in history that allows us to discern between and overlap with respect to “god in the universe” and “god in the neurons”, as well as so we don’t just reduce the latter to brain chemicals, “god in the psychedelics”.

Christ does not conflict with infinite love. Go learn more about Christianity.
