I like the idea! Would be cool to have a place to talk about movies, series, music etc.

I thought the same.

Sounds like a great idea.

Some suggestions to this could for example be, a science section. This could be helpful for linking certain articles and studies regarding topics that are already tied into spirituality. Like brain chemistry research, epistemology, space, mystical phenomena through nature, case studies of various human behaviours, etc etc. It could also be of helpl to find a certain topic from the science section rather than trying to search for a specific random post with a good studie in them.

Another much needed subforum from what it seems, would be a practical one. Practicality: this could fit an endless degree with different topics, all from organizing files in your computer to recipes, and time managing.

The thing is, that you could link certain topics from these new subforums as needed, into a conversation that may actually need such advices in certain spiritual topics that may have derailed into total confusion. When in actual need for a more practical advice. This tends to happen from time to time from what I have observed.

A brain-storming subform could also be both fun and useful. An example could be, "What should I have for dinner" and the thread could be bombarded with uniqe recipes or fusions of recipes that could also be linked directly from "the practical" subforum.

Those are some ideas to create a fire for collective creativity.

A solid idea, to have a place for more relaxed socialisation with like-minded people, who are already into personal development and spirituality. I actually love the idea.

But I don't know, shit talking and hardcore spirituality in the same forum, that's quite a contrast.

Would it attract more new members who come here to just talk shit? Would it lead to more misinterpretation and confusion on the more serious sections?

I guess it boils down to what sort of forum is this place to be, how hardcore of a place should this be? Is this place focused more towards socialisation or improvement. Can't have it all. Or could adding socialisation here lead to better personal improvement?

Simple idea, but quite a big structural change in my opinion. However, seems like this forum could use some refreshment or change. Would be interesting to see how it turns to go.

I think if it's done in a healthy way, it will be a great way to share comedy and other fun stuff

Don't you think the same topics everyday makes the forum boring

Would you like to discuss meditation and spirituality 24/7

May be it will also attract more people to the forum who can then be steered towards spirituality.

I am skeptical that this adds any value to this community. But let's see what people think.

It could bring this community more together and closer, by understanding and getting to know other people's interest and humour and styles. For some people some regulations may limit how far they can express themselves, so i think it could be a cool experiment to have.

I like these two. I think the only "problem" with dividing and creating more and more sections is that it needs unique guidelines and more and more moderators. So if that can be balanced out i think those two are great ideas.

Maybe we shouldn't waste our time on the forum 24/7 anyways?

I was talking about what gets discussed 24/7. Maybe don't twist it.

There's already enough entertainment (and drama) on the forum without having another section for it.

Also some sort of privacy lock for journals would be a great feature. So you can block it from being publicly viewed, or invite/block specific people from reading/participating.

Greater controls on journals would be great, especially blocking everyone/specific people from commenting on your journals (although personally everyone is welcome on mine). And an automatic status in the title indicating that it's locked for commenting.

I don't see much point in making journals completely or partially private either.

I agree that everything created needs some sort of moderation. I think that these subforums could be growing in a more organic way to give them a creative start boost, and then add different sections if a particular topic grows exponentially popular in contrast with other topics. Should the topic of language stand out under the lable science for example, then that particular topic have earned it's sub section under the lable science related topics. This would be created in direct relation with what the overall forum users likes to engage in, and maybe even inspire others to join.

@Someone here I love that!!

I've been living a more "light" life and I see that the whole self-help thing was helpful but at the same time damaging, we definitely need balance.

Everything in moderation including moderation.

We were domesticated to live a serious life, and as we age we become more and more rigid and bitter. We smile less and everything needs rules and rationality. I believe there is an immense power in tapping into our inner child, which is where curiosity and creativity is. I've been living my best life because of this shift, I call it bringing the INNER child OUT, I've been taking more risks, meeting crazy courageous people who are ALIVE, I started skydiving and wind tunnel, am training do do highline and still have my professional life untouched, how cool is it that we can balance all of that?!

Leo talks about psychedelic use for personal development and I've always used this way, but lately I've used simply for laughing, dancing, connecting with close friends, and I've included in my movement practices, slackline, skateboard, exploring nature. Do I call it recreational use? No, because I'm against the idea that we need to divide our life like that, the same way we have a war on drugs, we have a war on pleasure and fun. We repress sex, fun and all the desires, I'm not saying we should live an hedonic life but I'm inviting us to rethink how we live and what was taught to us, and possibly include fun and all the nice stuff god gave us, into our daily lives.

Like Bukowski said "We are here to live our lives well that death will tremble to take us", god provided us with all those tools and this amazing body that remains unused because of all the seriousness, and because of society, government, church etc.

My only concern is that people who are not used to explore those areas will just run amok EXACLY because those parts of their personality are being repressed. and we know very well what happens when something is repressed.

Good thread, made me think xD

Thank you!

I have some ideas for changes @Leo Gura, but this is just what I would do, take it for what you will:

- Change "Self-Actualization" to "Practical Self-Help", advertised so people can get more straight forward answers to (generally) straight forward questions. For people who aren't ready for esoteric, advanced, or spiritual concepts. If someone asks for basic advice like goal setting, the answers in the section shouldn't be anything like, "you need to wake up to God lul".

- Remove Psychedlics from "Meditation, Consciousness, Enlightenment, Spirituality", and give it it's entire own section.

- Add Culture to the name tag of "Society, Environment, Government, Politics"

- Move "High Consciousness Resources" to the "Self-Help Product & Book Reviews" section, or move them up. They should be combined.

- Add Finances to "Life Purpose, Career, Entrepreneurship", additionally give Life Purpose it's own section maybe. Since there is a course on it and it's a big part of the Actualized ethos.

- Also some sort of privacy lock for journals would be a great feature. So you can block it from being publicly viewed, or invite/block specific people from reading/participating.

- As well some sort of highlighted neon sticky post for the Serious Emotional Problems section about suicide and self-harm would be good. Just with some basic protocol about what the reader should do if feeling unstable, links to suicide hotlines, etc.

I'll consider that. Thanks for the thoughtful feedback.

The ability for users to lock journals and journal owners to be able to hide unwanted comments in journals they started would eliminate a lot of micro conflicts in the journal sections but not sure how difficult that is to add to the forum code.

My gut intuition is no. But on second thought it might dis-incentivize nonsense on serious posts. Perhaps? Currently I don't spend enough time on here to be able to tell whether that's even a perceptible problem, so I'm probably not the one to ask.
