I don't experience any "hangover" effect after masturbating. Sounds very similar to POIS, though.

It's probably because you do it often.

Are you implying I've gotten so used to a hangover state that I don't notice it anymore?

Don't get hung up on the word. It can be perceived as a hangover when you go for months in between, because your receptors are much more sensitive and the effect becomes more drastic. That has been my experience. Prolactin is one reason why you for example feel tired after a meal.

There isn’t evidence masturbation is bad for you.

@Raze Sure, there might not be scientific evidence. But you know what's better than scientific evidence?

Personal experiential evidence.

It's likely that masturbation doesn't affect everyone in the exact same way. But, I do know that - from my own direct experience - masturbation saps me of energy. I feel absolutely terrible the next few day and I can feel myself having less energy and having a worse mood.

Keep doing it 'till you get bored.

@thisintegrated Hahahaha oh boy....

If this advice works for anyone they'd be very lucky.

I'm already bored of it.

I've been bored of it for over a year. I barely enjoy it. I just do it because something feels off when I don't do it. It's a craving.

I quit porn and masturbation a few weeks ago and I noticed more energy and confidence. However my life just feels completely empty. I lowkey think I have depression. I'm losing interest in the things I used to enjoy and I feel emotionally drained. Hope its just temporary xD

@spiritual memes I feel the EXACT same way. I don't have interest in the things I used to enjoy. Where the fuck did my old self go?

Is fapping really harming you in any tangible way?

@Terell Kirby Yes it is. It saps me of energy, messes up my mood and motivation, and wastes A TON of time.

Even taking the biggest negative effects out of the picture, the time it wastes is by itself very destructive. I could be using that time to work on more important things that produce ROI. Masturbation is the opposite of that, in fact it gives me negative ROI.

I also noticed this, but no direct effect on energy levels, just on libido. It can feel "dead" down there in terms of libido when you abstain for so long and then decide to do it again. I guess I can see why you would call that a hangover.

Interesting, I wouldn't say I feel tired or sleepy after masturbating, more like relaxed or refreshed, kind of like stepping out of a shower. I have experienced post-meal sleepiness after eating certain foods and I wouldn't say it is comparable to how I feel after masturbation. I don't experience any sort of lethargy as you mentioned before, just a rise in sexual satiation.

Whenever you feel an urge take a cold shower, you can start it hot and then slowly make it cold, cooling down the body should make it go away

Try learning meditation. For a free online meditation training try unified mindfulness or the brightmind app.

Meditation has been shown to strengthen the part of the brain associated with willpower and quiet the part associated with impulsive urges over time. It also regrows the concentration and grey matter porn kills.
It can also be used to directly handle urges.

@Raze

Hahaha... I already read that book months ago along with the audio narration and even printed out that shinzen PDF sheet to put it right next to my bed. Yet I still do it. Thanks for sharing the resource though.

The easypeasy method was useful but I think I might just need to read it again. I don't know why I am still doing it.

I've been meditating for 5 minutes a day, but I don't feel like I am getting any results from it. Maybe it takes more time.

Try upping it to 20mins.

Also don’t rush it. just quit porn first then after 3 months see if you notice any difference then decide if you want to completely quit fapping. In my case porn was the issue not fapping.

Just start going out and talking to girls. Once I started having sexual encounters with girls, I was fine going a week or two without fapping.

Your sexual energy wants to go somewhere, when you're always just home alone being neurotic, it is easy for it to go into a tissue.

Every time I do it, I get a hangover effect that lasts for 4-5 days

I'm pretty sure this is not normal

If I had to guess, the hangover effect is from the guilt. But the guilt is totally in your head because there isn't anything wrong with masturbation

Porn is debatable, I would say that it could def be harmful if addicted
