Health is so strange. One day you can forget that you ever had an issue. Then when an issue is very pressing it can feel like the end of the world. I try to remind myself to keep a level head if I feel bad.

You are so young and have so much potential. This could be something that you could turn into a life purpose, with helping others fix these issues if you wanted.

Don't give up. When you zoom out on your whole life this will just be a little road bump.

How can I accept missing out on opportunities because of these problems? Due to my low energy and fatigue I can’t effectively do anything.

Hm.. Even acceptance does not mean you'll never ever be bored about it again. It might mean you simply handle better the fact that there are things we can control and there are things we can't. And the things we can't control might be a burden but you don't let yourself get stuck in a suffering rut for too long. You might experience suffering, but in the back of your mind, you know that's transitory and it will go away. Other than that I would say to have the things you're grateful for present within you.

Do not stop SSRI's unless ur psychiatrist recommends.

Emotional numbness comes from a variety of conditions as I 've learned. Maybe as u got SIBO, u may have had an anxiety attack+depression and ur brain might have pushed emergency buttons to protect ur brain by numbing out. this is common for the brain to be numbed out as to feel emotionless when dealing with emotionally difficult conditions like depression.

and this IS TEMPORARY  as u can see from the dozens of post from folks who have resolved all these.

as per DP/DR , try researching a lil bit on ur own. it is one of the most misdiagnosed conditions out there as it has anxiety and depression as half brothers. anyways, feel free to PM me anytime if u ever need someone to chat or waste time with xD

Thanks. A year already passed and it felt like a blur. I just don’t want to end up like those who have had problems like these for over 10 years. That would be a waste of life.

Ik it can be a lot for u from my own experiences with the numbness and meaninglessness that sets in. at this point , i think u would  rather stay in bed entire day that doing anything as everything feels distant;UNREAL. - am i right?

Yeah. Staying in bed doesn’t even feel enjoyable, it’s just that everything else feels 100x harder.

@Barbara It really does feel like this will take far too long to go away, if ever. I don't really know if it's transitory, I just hope that it is.

I get where you're coming from dude.

Am a long term adhedonic myself.

I think IFS would be valuable to look into for you.

Have you checked Ayurveda?

@Giulio Bevilacqua I have only heard of it. I don’t know much about it.

Is there anything from Ayurveda that could help?

@Ulax Have you done it yourself? Is it online 1-on-1?

Their brand logo seems to be your profile picture.

I have done a lot of self-work with it. Am around 8 sessions into IFS specific therapy.

And, yep, my profile pic was chosen because of IFS. It symbolises the model.

@Ulax Did you do it completely online or in person?

How can I sign up for it?

When I was a teen and in my early 20's health issues seemed enormously important. Remember to relax, and focus on what you DO want. Make a list of stuff that brings you joy and make a point to do it. One thing that helped me when I started dealing with a mysterious pain was getting together with friends weekly. I was working a lot at the time running a business, but one day a week I dropped everything and just had fun. It made an enormous difference.

I also really love this book for healing mysterious conditions. Celery juice seems like a dumb fad and a ton of work but it made an enormous difference for me.  https://www.amazon.com/Medical-Medium-Cleanse-Heal-Endometriosis/dp/B088JLNT51/ref=sr_1_3?crid=1J8LLEJIAFWH3&keywords=cleanse+to+heal&qid=1646998239&sprefix=cleanse+to+%2Caps%2C142&sr=8-3

Could you imagine that the thing you were most passionate about could suddenly be something you no longer care about, or find enjoyment in at all?

Yes I can, because it happened to me too.

@Vision Here is the directory. It lists IFS therapists/ practioners. (https://ifs-institute.com/practitioners)

I am personally doing my sessions online.

Here is an intro vid to IFS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdZZ7sTX840

@Ulax Thanks. I've watched it, it sounds a lot like shadow work.

How much benefit would you say you have gained from those 8 sessions?

@Arcangelo Exactly, you experienced it. I don't think we ever truly understand an experience until we experience it for ourselves.

It must be why one of Leo's principles is to never judge things that we have no personal experience in.

@mandyjw That's the thing, I can't relax no matter what I do. Things that used to relax me when I had my full personality don't relax me anymore. My body is in constant fight-or-flight mode. I have tried so many things to relax, and given that I can't relax even when all the conditions are perfect to relax, it's even more demoralizing.

Things that I used to want don't matter to me anymore. I feel completely desireless. I'm so numb that nothing feels like it has substance anymore. I'm just going through the motions of life.

Maybe the only thing I want right now is just to get out of this hellhole. It's negative motivation.

I can't feel an emotion even when all the conditions are seemingly perfect to feel it. I wish I could just use a button to feel emotions again.

Yeah, I know about Anthony William's celery juice in the morning thing. Like 10 months ago I tried it for some time, and all it did was give me the symptoms I get from eating celery (due to my gut issues).

Nothing significant so far that I can tell. Although, it is hard to tell, imo.

I'm realising there's al lot of charlatans in the field though. People who claim they are IFS therapists very misleadingly. The top dogs will have done training with the IFS institute, and have a certain level, i.e. 1, 2 or 3.

However, some therapists will do a random ass course on it, or have literally just read a book. Fucking manipulative if you ask me.

I'm starting with a level 3 IFS practioner now in conjunction with my current one. Who is a random ass course person. I'm thinking of dropping my current one soon tho. I only recently realised about all this charlatanism.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, I'd advice going as high level as you can. Saw some worrying shit on an open-access IFS forum of a level 1 therapist asking for advice on how to deal with a client, re an issue she seemed to have no idea about. To my mind, that person has business being that person's therapist. Becomes the blind leading the blind. All the level 3 practioners seem to know what is up though.
