I am thinking of starting to watch a TV series, but I also don't want to waste time

@Epikur Are you suggesting that I just watch recaps of all 4 seasons? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of watching a series?

Movies are like porn. So if you can limit it it might be better for you. Reading books I guess would be more valuable.

I don’t think one should overthink this. It’s a good show and you’ll enjoy it.

The worst-case scenario would be that, after finishing watching the show, my mind would start craving mental stimulation thinking 'What's next?'

Then that would be a sign that there is some work to do on your work ethic. To have a productive lifestyle requires discipline and if you can't keep yourself from watching TV all day long, then you might not yet be ready for the lifestyle you desire.

Where to draw the line between escapism and simply desiring to do it? What type of questions could I ask myself to figure this out?

That's where understanding concepts Actualized.org talks about come in handy. One big could be Holistic Thinking. Maybe check Leo's video on that? That touches many other concepts as well which are important in this matter, but it's really the foundation to base your decisions on when dealing with such issues.

If you can't rationally come to a conclusion on what to do, or your intuition isn't strong enough, then you just have to go for it and see what comes out of it.

Let me tell you this: After all, you can't go wrong. Even if you think you've gone wrong, there is something good in it that is necessary for you. It might be visible to you, or it might not.

@preventingdiabetes

Turn inwards. See Leo's video on introspection. Also see the Paradox of developing self trust. If you don't have a crystal clear vision of your life and your life purpose, you NEED to develop more clarity on that. Have you done Leo's life Purpose Course?

Ask yourself: Well this action maximize the love of the universe?

Sometimes watching a TV show can inspire you, feed your muse, and inspire you to fall in love with reality more.

On the flip side, it could be a reminder that you're not focusing enough on your self actualization, life purpose, and spiritual path.

Only you will know how to surf this wave.

I forgive my past, I release the future, and I honor how I feel in the present.

I just finished watching the entire show. What a ride...

I've never really been a TV watcher (despite literally everyone I know being one) because I always thought it was a complete waste of time.

But this show... I don't think I'll ever see one like it again. It has inspired me to become more of a creator myself. The cinematography is so unique, it's what intrigued me the most. I also looked into Sam Esmail (the creator of the show) a bit, and it was inspiring to hear him talk about his motives for making the show.

However, there's a negative effect I am experiencing after watching this show. I have lot's of anxiety in the form of overthinking and worry. In other words, my neuroticism increased tenfold. I think there were some scenes that triggered it for me, or maybe the suspenseful theme of the show, or a combination of both. Now I am feeling very anxious and tense all the time.

A recurring thought I am experiencing is that there are people out to get me. I feel like I am constantly in the 'fight or flight' mode. I can't relax at all. It's like my mind has gone on overdrive and is trying to prepare for the worst case scenario for everything.

I hope this will pass soon, and is just the result of me watching a TV show for the first time - a suspenseful one - half of every day for the past week. But I really need help on this.

@Consept Do you usually watch TV shows? Or is it more of a once in a while thing?

@Snader Good news is that the worst-case scenario I had mentioned did not happen. But I have a different thing that is happening to me...

I have paranoia now. You can look at the post above.

@ZenSwift I have seen those videos before. I don't have a crystal clear vision of my Life Purpose though.

I don't know how to answer that really. I don't think it would maximize the love of the universe for me to be watching a TV Show, but perhaps it can be linked to Love and my muse in that it inspires me.

How can I distinguish between the two? How can I notice when it is one or the other? What are some signs to look out for?

I don't know if the paranoia is coming from the show.

The whole thread is kinda paranoid.

You try to prevent going down a spiral of watching endless TV etc.

The thing is you can escape the work you have to do in order for real Growth to happen by many means. People do it everywhere, of course while watching TV. But also by going to university, by watching actualized.org videos, by being on this forum, by going to retreats, by working on their business.

You can not have enough eyes to see where the next distraction will come from.

It's normal, don't worry.

The key is to never loose sight of your vision.

Your inspirations, your dreams.

It is ok to get sidetracked, being fascinated by the delightful panorama...

Don't fight it.

Just come back to the thing that is most important to you.

@universe Can you please elaborate on how going to university, going to retreats, and working on their business is a means to escape the work you have to do?

I want to drop these intrusive thoughts but it's really hard. How do I just let them go?

Work on it! Leo has a fantastic course on it. 10/10 will do again.

You have yet to understand how every action that is happening right now is maximizing the love of the universe in the biggest picture. This technique helps a lot more when you life

Create a life purpose so clear, a vision so clear, that its clear where you are and aren't serving yourself.

Vague visions produce vague results. Vague visions provide vague direction.

If your direction isn't clear, then you have no map to make distinctions of the territory.

What do you really want? What do you want to experience in your life? What would not sit right with you on your death bed if you didn't experience it?
