Gathering Questions For Life Purpose Faq

98 posts in this topic

Hey fellow life purpose seekers!

If you've taken the life purpose course -- or are currently taking it -- and you have a question or confusion about how life purpose works, please post it here. The point of this thread is to gather all the most common questions so that I can address the best ones in a future update I plan to make to the course.

The life purpose course will be updated in the future with better and better material.

If you decide to post a question here please understand the following:

  • I may not answer your question in this thread. The point of this thread is to collect questions.
  • Please frame your question in a general manner. Don't make it too personal.
  • If you want your question answered immediately by the community, start your own thread.

Here are some examples of good questions:

Quote

I don't understand how I'm supposed to implement my life purpose while I'm working a 9-5 job.

or

Quote

Is it okay to have 2 life purposes?

or

Quote

What is the connection between life purpose and spirituality? Are they separate goals? Can they overlap?

or

Quote

What if my life purpose is unrealistic, like, I want to travel to and explore other galaxies? Should I pursue it, or lower my purpose to something more practical?

Thanks for helping me improve the course :)

I think the majority of us who take it aren't enlightened, how do we really know if we trust the answers our mind gives even though they are intuitive (the ego could still be involved) and we thought about them ALOT?

Do we need to have a lot of life experience before taking the course? I am 21 and would know myself on a less deeper level then at 30. I could take the course now and then at 30 and it could yield spectacularly different results.

Is it possible for the most unambitious, lazy, ineffective, emotional cuntary, tv-watching, dependence on others, sugar-eating, porn-thriving slob (who basically made their nest on their couch) to have a zone of genius deep within him?

And all of the questions you posted yourself xD

Isn't it so that everybody's impact statement is related to increasing the consciousness or open-mindedness of humanity or something along those lines in one way or another? Or maybe raising the "stages of humanity" (Spiral Dynamics)?

And does one then has to make his impact statement after realizing this more specific?

This is kind of like a theory of mine that I'd like to get confirmed.

Question:How do I know that life purpose that has been floating around in my mind is authentic and is the right one to stick with?

(For example , I have had this life purpose on becoming some sort of a revolutionary floating around in my mind since a year or 2 ago, I think it comes from me seeing corruption or "bullshit" in the areas of our society and them frustrating me and making me want to fix them in an act of self-rightgeous . I do not know exactly how I will become one or what sort of revolutionay I will become or what revolutionary actions I will take , its quite vague so I cannot get quite a clear vision of it. When I think deeplyabout becoming a revolutionry and changing the world it can almost make me cry. How should I know that this is the right life purpose to go with. I mean I find it inspiring but should I go with it? )

I should inform you I have not taken the life purpose course. This is because at my current age. I am not able to purchase things "freely".When I asked my parents if I could purchase your booklist that cost €30 at the time.

They thought you were a scam and argued that they could come up with their own booklist and publish it for an amount of money. So I doubt they will be willing to let me purchase your life purpose course any time soon.

How to discover your area of mastery?

What if you are under 25 and you don't really know what your life purpose is?

Could you upload your new Me Sheet so we can see your progress of refining your values and so on?

How much time should you aim to work at your Life Purpose in the first few years?

Good questions! I'll try to briefly address them here:

You'll never know if you can trust your mind. You've always got to stay vigilant to self-deception. This is your work here on Earth, human.

Taking the course at 21 can be life-transforming, because once you're 30, you'll still have no idea what your purpose is without considering all the information presented in the course. I wish I had this course when I was 16. I would be killing it right now.

Of course that slob has a Zone of Genius deep within. He's just got many layers of toxic habits and social conditioning to undo. Can he undo it? Of course. Would I bet my money on it? Hell no! I would never bet on a lazy person. But if you ARE that lazy person, you've got no choice but to bet on yourself.

Not too long ago, I was a lazy, ineffective, TV-watching, sugar-eating, porn-thriving, couch-nesting guy. It's a hell of a thing to outgrow. But it's totally doable. But you need a purpose first.

No, not necessarily. Your life purpose might simply be to make the world's greatest candy and put smiles on kids faces.

And even if that was the case, the important part is EXACTLY HOW you're going to be increasing consciousness. "Increasing consciousness" is so generic that it has no bite. You need to be more specific. There are 1000 ways to increase consciousness.

Well... the course goes into great length on this point, with various exercises.

As a quick rule of thumb, if you life purpose can't make you cry when you visualize it, it's probably too weak.

But of course, that assumes you're emotionally developed enough that you can actually weep tears of joy. Many people are so disconnected from their emotions they cannot. In which case, that's something to self-actualize on.

A lot of this was directly addressed in the course.

Your area of master is the thing you could be fascinated enough to learn for at least 10 years.

Once you're clear on your purpose, get to work on it as much as you can! It's the most high-value activity you could do besides maybe becoming enlightened. So all time you invest elsewhere is sub-optimal.

Actually, I really wonder about that:

"What if my life purpose is unrealistic, like, I want to travel to and explore other galaxies? Should I pursue it, or lower my purpose to something more practical?"

Your purpose shouldn't be any one project, like exploring a particular galaxy. It should be more general. It's about the emotional impact you want to have on other people or in the world-at-large.

So in this case, your life purpose would be something like: "I share new natural discoveries with people." Or maybe, "I explore uncharted environments."

And that is something which is technology-independent. You can find a way to do it now, even if you're never able to visit another galaxy. If the opportunity presents itself in 30 years for you to visit another galaxy, then you'll seize on it. Otherwise you will find a way to still fulfill your purpose using current technology.

This purpose is flexible enough to allow you to become:

  • A paleontologist
  • An astronomer
  • A naturalist
  • An astronaut
  • A space entrepreneur
  • A biologist
  • A geologist
  • A photographer
  • A writer
  • A virtual reality designer
  • Etc.

Your domain of mastery, your top values, and your top strengths will help you narrow that list down a lot.

@ajasatya It handles any life purpose. If you're passionate about becoming a spiritual teacher, you can use it for that. That's basically what I used it for.

A life purpose, just saying this, is very profound. It's not just a career. It's not just a startup with passive income. It effects all areas of one's life - how you relate to loved ones, how you relate to friends, how you relate to society, how to take it with you when you go travelling/immigration, how would you incorporate enlightenment experiences with it, how to have a profound mission and impact the world with it, and so on. It's profound, Leo. Flexibility and adjustment are required throughout life in a life purpose. It's lifelong. You are basically discovering yourself along the way throughout life and incorporating that into the life purpose as well as skills to market it and win eyeballs in your own unique ways and have a positive impact in the world. Consider this, right? Don't forget that it's the journey that counts. Each day, when you awake from your sleep, you have a chance to add a drop of something to your life purpose. ☺

Will this course help me find my true life purpose that has already been set out for me? The state of being of surrender and following what I already know I have to do but am too afraid of doing? Or will this just create a supercharged ego that believes it has a life purpose onto which it will hold on for a long duration. How do I know if the life purpose I have found is not just an ego fart to impress others and look good? And finally will this life purpose be a disturbance on the enlightenment path? What if my life's purpose is enlightenment and that is the only thing I want?

I have discovered that I get a lot of pleasure by simply working really hard and kicking ass at anything. And by anything I really mean literally anything. Whether that be doing the chores around the house, cooking really well, doing schoolwork (in IT), or making personal development videos which I consider my life purpose.

I can see how I can be fulfilling my life purpose in many different ways, and have actually decided to open up an other youtube channel with an other kind of videos. The reason for this is simple : I'd like to make a living fulfilling my life purpose, that way I'll have all the time in the world to fulfill my life purpose in really deep ways (and also I'll be able to do psychedelics).

So my question is : My favorite way to fulfill my life purpose is by making personal development videos, but I'm also really interested in making a living and it seems like these videos just don't cut it (at least for now). If I do something that makes money, and fulfills my life purpose but not as well, is that a bad strategy ?

Leo, one of the first things covered in the course is about stoking your creative, personal vision, and I have something to ask.

Over the last 2 weeks, I've been mulling it over in my head that I want to become an intellectual sage as well as an Enlightened Mystic. I have a compelling vision of achieving intellectual and spiritual mastery in my life to attain both an abstract and conscious understanding of life.

Far beyond just being an academic or a spiritual teacher, I feel compelled to synthesize East and West in a personal theory of everything which enhances my perspective on who we were and where we are going. I can't help but feel attracted towards philosophical, intellectual, and consciousness-raising work, as if it were what I always wanted to do. In retrospect, that always seemed to be the case.

I feel a great sense of satisfaction beyond happiness, as if I am complete, as if my other desires fall away, and all that is left is the work. Whether I'm reading some "abstract" work, or letting my intuitions guide me, I always feel as though what I'm doing comes from me and nobody else.

But here's the problem. I feel that what I am doing is an expression of my will, but is that fine? Does it have to be an even higher, more altruistic vision? Can our life purpose simply be doing work that means the most for us? Does it necessarily have to be altruistic in nature?

Furthermore, how can I get to the point where I can start to gain the experience and the opportunities necessary to create my own career out of this?

Yes, that's exactly what it means: doing what means the most to you. That will turn into altruism. Don't worry too much about it.

That point is now! Start practicing every day to master your chosen domain. As you develop valuable experience, you will be able to market it. Without experience or know-how, you've got no career capital, so you're of no use to anyone, so why should they pay you?

Would you pay me if I came to you and said: "I know nothing, I can't help you with anything, now give me money and a nice position!" No.

It's a tool. You can use it to feed a superego, or you can use it to develop a great career without being attached to it.

I talk about the importance of detachment in life purpose in the course.

Yes, it could slow down your enlightenment work. Then again, really think through your life plan practically. How will you feed yourself? Unless you plan to be homeless and begging for food, you will have to do some kind of work, and that work will eat up most of your day. Enlightenment won't excuse you from work one bit. It's not some kind of get-out-of-jail-free card. Mundane reality still matters and it will punish you harshly for not planning accordingly.

The pursuit of your purpose must be strategic and pragmatic. If you cannot sustain it, then what good is it? Your mission is to CREATE a sustainable way to do your work. Whatever that means. The path may not be direct. It may be winding.

I had to sell my soul and work in a business I didn't like for 4 years before I could get to the point where I was able to do Actualized.org. It wasn't easy. I had to be very creative and insistent about realizing my purpose.

As far as making Youtube videos goes, that's a very crowded marketplace these days. You may need to look for greener pastures. I get the sense that you're not thinking creatively enough. You won't generally succeed through imitation. You gotta bring something new to the table. Rewatch the video about The Purple Cow. Where is your Purple Cow? How are you gonna bring massive value to people?

Hi @seaneyboyjazz, I think it is totally possible. Many people have done that and become successful (maybe you know Kurt Hugo Schneider right?). So I think it depends on you.

1.What is the fundamental difference between unique ability and strength ?

2. To which extend do you consider a strength (let's say : the love/ high curiosity/open-mindedness for learning new concepts) to be your Zone of Genius ?

Thanks for taking the time and sharing your thoughts  :)

What if you are unsure of the exact impact you want to make and/or your domain of mastery, but have it narrowed down to some general area? Is it better to choose one thing specifically and begin implementing it (programming subconscious mind, etc.), or is it better to continue contemplating what is really most meaningful to you before you begin the implementation process? I don't want to be overanalyzing/procrastinating, but what I've come up with through the exercises feels like it still needs more refinement.

I've found my life purpose- which involves working with people using hypnosis and reiki to help them along on their own life journey.  And that can involve weight loss, quit smoking, dealing with anxiety etc.  I feel compassion for people and I love seeing their transformations.  It just makes me feel so good.  And I love hypnosis because every time I hypnotize someone or use reiki I receive the same benefits as my clients! lol

But I'm noticing a huge EGO issue now that I've found my life purpose.  I base my personal self worth on how many clients I see, how much money I make, and how well my clients are progressing.  Since I'm just starting my business, I've had some dry spells, where I would have times where I wouldn't see many clients at all.  It really messed with my self confidence and self esteem.  And I felt like I wasn't good enough because I wasn't making enough money to support myself, and had to get a side job for additional income.  I would base my self worth off my clients thanking me and telling me how great I am.  And I know that's not a good thing!  How do I fix this??

Is it normal for people to get their ego mixed up with their life purpose?
