Any legit ways to increase libido?

34 posts in this topic

So? I have heard about maca and other herbs but most of the claims don't seemed to be backed up and most of the studies are animal studies. Excercise, good sleep and. And decent nutrition seem to be the only things to focus on. Is there anything else? I dont know if this makes a difference but I don't really have a super libido, but i have certainly noticed a decline on the last couple years.

Only thing I know for sure is no-fap. The increase stops at about day 10 IME. Exercise is also a decent boost.

These are good. If you are too stressed or malnourished it will kill your libido.

Lack of libido can often be connected to testosterone deficiency or simply excess of other hormones like cortisol that are peripherally blunting it. Some potential culprits of decreased libido:

  • Stress - high chronic stress will be lowering your testosterone levels in the body due to cortisol dominance
  • Being overweight - I assume you're not but if so, excessive fat tissue can aromatase testosterone into oestrogen. Also particular foods can accelerate this process, I would need to look into research to tell which ones they are but there are  a few I believe.
  • Poor diet lacking essential nutrients like zinc, fatty acids , copper, chromium etc - your diet is a huge huge cofactor here especially I stuff is missing.
  • Excessive masturbation or excessive porn consumption
  • Spending too little time in company of women
  • Sleep - you mentioned but let's not just mention it. How is your sleep? IS it deep enough? DO you wake up rested and refreshed? Do you get at least 7.5 hours regularly?
  • Not exercising enough especially not enough weight-bearing exercise
  • Particular medication especially those used against hair loss or DHT conversion blockers will massively mess up with your libido.
  • Exercising way too much especially too much cardio can kill your testosterone
  • Since we're on this topic lately I'll add a bonus  - exposure to BPAs, microplastics, POPs, PCBs, VOCs and all those 3-letter toxins, basically anything can acts as xenoestrogens or endocrine disruptor and can occupy androgen receptors can mess up with your testosterone balance.

In terms of some supplements, I've got a blog post on Maca & Aswagandha where I dug into the research, they both include research on sex health as well  - follow my first link and click on Blog.

@Michael569 You should do blog post on plastics & specifically water bottles & plastic packaged food

(bad habit) I spent 3 months drinking 2-4 plastic water bottles per day every day ... I am afraid to think what I done to myself or if this permanent damage.

I ate tons of plastic packaged food throughout the last 8 years due to every fucking thing being wrapped in plastic in those annoying monopoly supermarkets.

Information on plastics is too vague and not quantified, articulated in enough depth for public to grasp how bad it is, what the worst forms of it are, how to detox it, how long this takes ect...

Due to this vagueness I am either afraid or indifferent to them (I was indifferent )

They  obviously bad, but how bad? But important question, how do you systematically remove plastics from the body, is the damage permanent?

We can be quite efficient with the removal once we slow down the exposure. Plastic bottles,. plastic containers, plastic coffee cups and that sort of stuff are major contaminants (80-90% human exposure). Traces are found in everything but you want to cut off the few bits that cause 90% exposure. I may do a vid/blog at one point, thanks for recomms

This powder for smoothies contains maca and ashwagandha. It is a proprietary blend which bothers me because I'm not sure how much I'm getting but 1 serving is 6 grams and the recommended dosage of daily ashwagandha is give or take 500 mg. I would definitely think theres at least that much in a 6 gram scoop. Maca recommendations are 1.5 to 3.5 grams so i think it should add up. Gonna give it a shot, maybe ill come back to this thread and update after 2 months.

I'm a big fan of Reishi and Ashwagandha, and Maca too I guess. I have all three powders in my kitchen cupboard.

The issue for me is that Ashwagandha tastes so god damn awful, it makes me shiver in disgust. Maca too, actually.

So I found myself manually putting it in capsules anyway.

I'm skeptical that I could drink a smoothie like that:/xD

@flowboy hahaha I'll let you know how it tastes I'm sure a just A spoonful in smoothie with enough frozen berries and O.j. wouldn't be too bad. Maybe a couple dates if I need to add some sweetness.

@Adodd I take Ashwagandha. It has many benefits, but I never noticed any increase in libido from it. Maca and pine pollen have both been effective for libido.

I can vouch for this too.

Taking up a three day a week resistance training program, with a good consistent diet, will work wonders for your libido OP.

Big compound movements are key to the program and these are; barbell squats, deadlift, bench press, and shoulder press.

I can thoroughly recommend 'Starting Strength' by Mark Rippetoe and 'Bigger, Leaner, Stronger' by Michael Matthews. Starting Strength is a power lifting focused program, while Bigger, Leaner, Stronger is a body building focused program.
