What happens when we die?

9 posts in this topic

Im not sure if Leo has ever explicitly stated this or if he even knows, but what actually happens to our consciousness when we die? Is it determined based on your beliefs? Like if a Catholic person who lived a "good" life according to the Bible died, would they experience what they think heaven is like? Ive also heard something about the ability to transfer your consciousness into an "astral body" that you could travel the astral plane with. Any insights or advice would be appreciated!

Leo has explicitly stated that your self does not go carry on in some heaven place (he says on the same basis, the idea of uploading your consciousness to a robot is ridiculous).

I don't think any mystic tradition believes in an afterlife. Moreso that death is not real at all.

This is something you will have to experience for yourself.  If people give you ideas beforehand that could be detrimental.  Go into the fear of death with appreciation for what is around you, the little things while also doing self inquiry and be as honest as possible.  This will remove the layers of the ego and you can then experience awakenings that will give you personalized answers as to what happens after death.  Memento mori, it is called, contemplating one's own death, a very good spiritual practice.

Yes i agree. Like when people will have near death experiences or go on psychedelic trips and claim they saw the buddha or Jesus and experienced Heaven or Hell and then they fall victim to self deception and take those subjective experiences and use them as proof that their ideology is correct.

the human you stops, with no more brain chemistry the thoughts stop arising and the egoic self-identification disappears, no memories, no thinking

the higher YOU continues its cycle of infinite creation and discovery, as it always has, as it is right now at this very moment, that never dies

When you die, you are born again .. to infinity

So much that life and death become indistinguishable.

One of the most honest answers I've seen to this perpetual question:

The essence of who you are is beyond death. That comes out of inner realization. I don’t know much beyond that. You’ll have to wait and see when you actually die.

- Eckhart Tolle

Just because God loves you doesn't mean it is going to shape the cosmos to suit you. God loves you so much that it will shape you to suit the cosmos.
