How To Detox Liver/Kidney/Gut?

4 posts in this topic

Let's say I wanted to start detoxifying my liver, kidneys and gut. Where should I start? What should I do? I've never followed a detox protocol, so I'm interested in what it means, what protocols are worth trying, what should I do, what should I not do, etc. I'm not talking about heavy metal detox, just simple regular detox.

The reason is that I have a mild hypothyroidism, and since I'm troubleshooting the causes (while planning to do some bloodwork to check thyroid hormones, thyroid antibodies, c-reactive protein and calcium), I want to learn how to detox the liver, kidneys and gut, so that I am prepared if I need to do it.

I've read this article: (which is about heavy metal detox), and I've read about the Anthony William's Celery Juice Detox, and they don't teach how detox works nor how to properly do it.

I've been following a mostly vegetarian diet for the last year or two. Three months ago I reintroduced meats. Now I eat a low amount of red meats or processed meats 1-2 times a week, poultry 2-3 times a week, lots of legumes  and nuts and I don't eat fish nor seafood. I eat an average amount of wheat products though. I try to stay away from dairy, but since I don't live alone it's difficult.

I've read here in the forum that these are the first steps:

  1. Fix the diet
  2. Replenish vitamins and minerals
  3. Heal the gut

But I'm not quite sure if my diet needs some fixing, and I don't really know how to heal the gut.

Also, I don't know what I should do next.

I've heard about Robert Morse's Protocols, but I'm not familiar with them.

Are there resources, books, videos, articles that explain proper detox well enough?

I will be doing Andreas Moritz's protocols. Can't speak to them since I haven't started yet, but others praise it.
