This is the guy you all are defending:

Oh man I don't usually enjoy vegan ideology, but man this guy is good at ripping into this charlatan.

These nitpicking videos are lame. Hating on gurus has become like a sport on youtube, ie low vibe. What's next, I suppose Tolle is a fake too :)

David Ramms also has a video on Tolle, indeed:P I made myself watch that one too, to not be too confirmation biased ( I like Tolle ). That one was much less substantial, I found, but opinions will vary.

Still I think there is something to be said for judging someone by how they treat the people they interact with. I don't see Eckhart dissing people from his audience for asking questions.

If you really want to criticise someone you'll always find something to criticise. It comes from self-deception, self-bias, and selfishness from below.

Yeah I guess we have this perception that these guys are suppose to be perfect. Being a saint feels a bit boring to me though. I would rather be a sage. Perhaps being dissed is just what that girl needed at that moment, who knows :)

Perfect saints? lol

Sadhguru is a complete dumbass as far as this question goes, you can practically feel the ego dysfunction emanating from him. xD

Sadhguru is a fraud because you have a difference of perspective with him?

Laughable.

A guru not agreeing with your Green vegan perspective doesn't mean anything. It just means you are stuck in your own perspective.

@Leo Gura But he is certainly biased towards traditions of Hinduism or maybe he prefers not to clash with Hindus maybe?

No, because he clearly is a little weazel whose arugments simply do not make sense. If your arguments are shit and simply incorrect, it is beyond just some sort of difference is perspective, it is clear that bias is blinding you.

Have you even watched these videos? The guy is incoherent, he is employing every trick in the ego-handbook, and you can see just how triggered and emotional he gets with the topic.

If he truly gave his perspective, he would simply say he doesn't really give that much damn about animals, and whatever else his true positions are. But he does not, because he probably is himself too unaware of his own biases.

The way I see it is Sadhguru is having an understanding of the complexity of various situations, whilst those criticising him have a black & white perspective and don't understand the nuances.

Sadhguru somehow argues that it would be better for cows to be breed into existence continuously even if it means they live a life of suffering, because somehow it would be immoral to let the articifial population of cows continue to faze out of existence over time. How can you take a position like that seriously? So we forcefully breed these cows, and we pretend we are doing them a favor while it happens to be the case that we exploit them and basically give them a life of misery?

So?

And you are not biased towards your culture?

Obviously, Sadhguru has a following of tens of millions of people, if not 100's of millions. With such influence he is half-guru, half-politician and has to side with non-progressive opinions often to stay in the mainstream and not lose the political power.

What use would there be of a guru who talks vegan and socialist talking-points non-stop, but can't achieve anything and no-one really listens to him? That worldview dropped on majority of his followers would be too much of a good thing to accomplish any good. You can't be like Bernie Sanders and lead people in India. Bah, you can't even be Bernie Sanders to lead people in the US, even though it's a wealthier and more developed country than India.

Also, Sadhguru is an old fart.

@Scholar All you're doing here is trying to project your worldview onto others.

You'll never experience any joy in life in this way, because everything will keep pissing you off.

Sadhguru is definitely biased. He says that meat and eggs are very unhealthy, and that you should never eat them. But turns out meat and eggs are some of the healthiest foods you can find. The only reason sadguru discouraged meat is because Hindus hate killing animals, so he had to conform to them by lying about their health.

"Not believing your own thoughts, you’re free from the primal desire: the thought that reality should be different than it is. You realise the wordless, the unthinkable. You understand that any mystery is only what you yourself have created. In fact, there’s no mystery. Everything is as clear as day. It’s simple, because there really isn’t anything. There’s only the story appearing now. And not even that.” — Byron Katie

And you are not biased?

@vizual Everyone is biased. But there is a difference between having preferences, versus lying to a large audience about something so important just to conform to your society.

So you think sadhguru actually thinks meat and eggs are healthy for people, but he lied to them because he doesn’t want them to think badly of him.

How do you know sadhguru is purposefully lying to the people?

@vizual Meat and eggs are at the top of the list of healthy foods, even superior to vegetables. For him to publicly proclaim that they are unhealthy, and give false reasons is enough proof of his bias. Whether he is intentionally lying or not is up for debate, but he is lying nonetheless.

He redirected a question to prevent nationalistic attack against another country and to speak out against the persecution of people based on caste. I'm not sure how you managed to view this video and conclude he is a bad person. As for his support for the ideology -- maybe he can use the power of the ideology while also reframing it in a way that is not hostile to others which he appears to be doing.
