Non-duality in metal

Most of metal is SD stage red, some of it is blue, even less is orange and barely any green. However thanks to a friend I recently stumbled upon this band which is handling topics of non-duality:

When it comes to harsh music, there's stuff from all across Spiral Dynamics. Nazi skinhead punk is red, whereas hippie anti-racist punk would be green. I think most popular metal is like orange/green integrating red. The band Tool is definitely turquoise.

Through the fields of scars and wounds,
shining with dim light of non-existence.

What tranquillity!
What sweet peace!
What inward serenity!
What supreme felicity!
An earnest of bliss!

To reach beyond the web of spiritual deceit
that mankind has been weaving for millennia
and face the most horrible truth of all.

Every single dream… shattered, trampled and lost.
Every single word… silenced forever and evermore.

Descent! Regress into prime, hideous, beautiful…
Descent! Regress into prime, hideous, beautiful nothingness.

Here, in fact, we may be in the presence of one of the most necessary of all Devils:
the Ecumenical Unifier, champion of all efforts to remove invidious distinctions
between nature and nurture, body and spirit, interdiction and impulse, time and
eternity, individual and community, male and female, Hell and Heaven-and
ultimately, of course, between man and God.

While we may believe
our world - our reality
to be that is - is but one
manifestation of the essence

Other planes lie beyond the reach
of normal sense and common roads
But they are no less real
than what we see or touch or feel

Denied by the blind church
'cause these are not the words of God
the same God that burnt the
knowing

I am nothing, I am no thing, I am not incessantly
Not of the sun; nor the moon, nor of the stars... immesurably
Not without me, nor within me, nothing sees... inwardly
I will not sleep,I will not wake, I will not rest... impatiently

Out of the many comes the One
To lay waste the all and return to the None

Without light
The dark encloses all
Our works would be but ash
No knowledge of the time that crushes love to dust
Or the life that's frozen deep within our veins

Without dark
The light burns out our eyes
And turns each of us to ash
Our hearts, too hard to ever learn to feel
And mouths, laid open, deep in silent song

Trapped within
That which all collapses
For fear of what may lay beyond
When peace eludes
And devastation happens
A subtle glimpse of where we each belong

Speaking of finding non-duality in unexpected places, I ran into a guy with the name "Non Dual" on Oldschool RuneScape. I said "Aye!", "1k meditation hours :)", and he said "<3", "One Love". A beautiful little moment :)

Really? How did you come to that conclusion? Barely any green? Stage red? It's either political, satirical, borderline ridiculous " like death metal", poetic, with complex ideas artistic, instrumentally complex and innovative, dreamy, energizing, genuine, expressive, passionate, progressive, emotional, creative, funny e.c.t. I know a lot of bands who literally sing about the conceptual notions about enlightenment, but I just can't be bothered to post them here.

I am really starting to question whether SD is a good model to evaluate art. ART.

The most horrifying moment of my life
At the bottom of my heart
My inner child is crying, scared, shouting,
Shocked
Deep and hidden fears are unlocked

My childhood
My loved ones
My entire life...
All is being lost
I am living my death

This is the way we feel
Death here on earth
But the vision is changing
We are evolving

Realize...
We have linked
Emotions, thoughts and feelings
To our physical shape, of flesh and bones
Temporal, limited, perishable

Perceptible invisible forces
That belong to the immortal spirit
Your energetic shape
Transcending time and space
Extension of the source

So much dark around this step
So much fear... Ignorance... The humankind
Filthens it.

We have been instructed
Hypnotized during our life
Instilling in us
That life ends with death

A new horizon
A clear and healed vision
We are sons of the omnipresence

The experience of feeling
There's no end to life...
Never-ending
Is being real

Release yourself
"Physical spirits
Remember birth is the opposite
Of death
Your life is an ageless path"

It's time to
Face my death
Liberate myself from Samsara
I transcend this spiritual step
Losing my being, my ego
To live only present

I enjoy the learning on Earth
And consciously, happy
Living in my soul
I return back home

I detach from my body
It's not what I really am
It's not what really lives
I know I'm an eternal soul
Quitting and leaving the matter

I join the spiritual world
The invisible kingdom
Where I belong
Oh... Great reality
The Heart of the universe
The source of all life

I let myself go...

@Applegarden8  I saw someone make this statement before here like a 1+ ago. I was like.... what.

Maybe it was me. xD I am so preacy sometimes, especially behind the keyboard.

I really don't like SD, because it suddenly becomes like jack of all trades model, when it comes to every behaviour you can possibly cognize... and a circle-jerk on this forum.

Ohh you meant the OP. Yeah, that is common, and so much else! Do not resonate at all with me. Somebody who puts continious effort into something is jusy bound to make something worthwile.

Metal is easily the genre with the widest spectrum when it comes SD

Edit: @_Archangel_ I have made a post before checking out yours, this is the shit I am looking for! Any recommendations of other bands?

This is a little bit like Tool. If you want non-dual metal, the best way to achieve that is to choose something without lyrics, like music by bands God is an Astronaut or I Am Waiting for You Last Summer, and just smoke DMT listening to it, the DMT being your provider of non-duality in that equation, haha.

SD is a very good model to judge the message embodied in an artwork. And I think it's true that a lot of metal has primitive insights to tell, like coming from around stage Blue/Orange. Doesn't mean it's bad, just nothing new.

I crave a trendy metal band that has lyrics embodying stage Green or Yellow values, if there really is such a plentiful of them then share it, please. Something with a message like this song, You Me at Six - Our House, but more metal sounding.

Bring Me the Horizon is Greenish. grandson is more of a rapper than a metal band but has a harsh sound and still conveys quite a developed worldview in his songs.

I would happily hear about more stage Green, Yellow or non-duality-focused metal bands.

@Girzo For some reason i never got into Tool until recently and oh shit now i understand the hype:o
Thanks for the raccomandation i'm gonna check them out, even though only instrumental music usally what i listen to (but i might dig it!).

Anyway, if you like my previous pick, then i can raccomand:

Black metal too has some awakened folks but i don't know if you dig it
And if you explore the more experimental(wierder too) side of metal you can finde stuff like this:

Thanks for the recommendations guys,  great stuff at the gym when you want to blast some metal - but also don't wanna stop listening to non-duality...  :D

We need a new genre...  "non-dual metal".

My absolute favorites so far are Scar Symmetry!      especially the Holographic Universe-album, check out those lyrics... and the music is stellar as well if you're into melodic death, lots of interesting songs on the other albums too.

Holographic Universe

Bathe in laser light, the beam will underline
The birth of universe from nothingness
Prime awakening, the second beam comes in
To bounce and interfere as drawn by will

We're finding that we can never die
A subject no more to loss than gain
The more you try to connect with form
The less you're yearning to see all you could behold

Then the third beam comes to bring it all alive
And bring to form the once chaotic swirl
See creation sing the word infinity
Behold this organized constructive skill

We're finding that we can never die
A subject no more to loss than gain
The more you try to connect with form
The less you're yearning to see all you could behold

While all we did was to divide
Breaking down the whole
We never looked at what we found:
Hologram within
Why we relied on space and time
No one here can know
At last we looked at what we found

Holographic worlds are in sight
To consciousness we moved from where we used to find a god
We have made this concept our own
Now we believe that this reality came from a dream

Forever tried to tell us: "Time is on our side"
You recite this knowing and you find it all

Night leads to day as mind finds a way
You were asleep now you leave the role of one forsaken play

This time we found a way to view the world inside
Now we've come to know it and leave the past behind

While all we did was to divide
Breaking down the whole
We never looked at what we found

Rise from decay in worlds gone astray
Truth lies beneath, hiding deep within a once forsaken way

While all we did was to divide
Breaking down the whole
We never looked at what we found:
Hologram within
Why we relied on space and time
No one here can know
At last we looked at what we found

Here unfolds the truth of all that is alive
And here we wash away what was proclaimed
Hail awakening, forever lead us in the urge to be alive
We know you will

Unless it's one of my favourite songs by them talking about being fisted because one is desensitized from lack of control over selfish pleasures. Definitely Stage Red xD

@Roy I don't think it's actual stage read, it's clear it's meant as metaphorical humor, just like the album name AEnima which mean soul in Latin but also Enema.

I have a "stage turquoise" roommate (he doesn't really care about SD, he just sees it as another system that might be valuable for some people, but has no value for him) and we have this kind of (often existential) poop humor as well. For example we often joke about having a coprosaurus living in our basement and having to feed it.

@Roy mmm i would say that Sinkfist is more a depiction of a Yellow-Torquaise perspective acknowledging its Red side
I Think an accurate first person embodiement of Red is this:
