Was the past true at one point?

6 posts in this topic

Even though the only thing that's true is the present moment, which is giving the impression that it's constantly morphing and changing all the time, it really feels like the perceptions of the past did occur within the now. What exactly is it meant that the past has never occurred?

How is it that the now is making you think there is a past which occurred? Because you remember things? Remembering also occurs within the now.

"God is not a conclusion, it is a sudden revelation. When you see a rose it is not that you go through a logical solipsism, 'This is a rose, and roses are beautiful, so this must be beautiful.' The moment you see it, the head stops running thoughts. On the contrary, your heart starts running. It is something totally different from the idea of truth." -Osho

Just because there is no past and no future... Doesn't mean there's anything in-between, either.

'Now' is as equally nothing as a past or a future.

"Nothing has happened in the past; it happened in the Now. Nothing will ever happen in the future; it will happen in the Now. Guilt, regret, resentment, sadness & all forms of nonforgiveness are caused by too much past & not enough presence. Time isn't precious at all, because it is an illusion".

"I have lived on the lip of insanity, wanting to know reasons, knocking on a door. It opens. I've been knocking from the inside." -- Rumi

The present moment or "time" is an illusion. Observe the present moment and you will realize that it doesn't exist. It's a mirage.

The moment you can hone in on it, its gone. This is because "time" is how absolute consciousness experiences linear timelines.

It's the projector for the movie. But the movie is simply a mirage. People aren't actually moving inside of that square, they are actors and its a projection.

Same with reality.

the past is a mental construct. Humans have a sophisticated mechanism that prints data in order to maximize survival. prints them based on what is happening. reality is a changing present, but as changes exist, we create the idea of time. our mind stores the changing reality, and thus an impression of history is created. To say that the past did not exist is not correct, the reality is that it does not exist now except in our mind
