Once awakened...

6 posts in this topic

Once one is awakened, does everything lack purpose and actual intention? Does purpose become anything one wants to see? Does purpose become fluid; without purpose?

Does purpose lack purpose once awakened?

Purpose or meaning is a function of mind. Thus, it is invented and conceptual. There is no substance to it, it is imagined, usually to serve survival by assigning a conceptual value onto an object or activity. So, purpose and meaning are inventions of mind, and do not exist out of mind. Existence has no purpose, and no meaning. But it does not mean anything. It is "neutral". Meaninglessness and purposelessness is what allowing the "vacuum" or "emptiness" for creating invented purpose or some creating meaning for yourself.

In our day and age, most purpose and meaning are attributed to survival and material success. But it does not have to be this way. It could be anyway you choose. You are completely free to design your own meaning and purpose. Mind has no inherent value. It is an abstraction, pure conceptual activity. You can form your mind - you already did, but mostly in accordance with the mind patterns that your family and the society in which you leave has already formed. But it can be reformed.

Have fun playing and creating!

Purpose is like playing. You don't have to do it, but you can do it in ways that are very entertaining. When you play a game, it's nice (and essential!)  to forget that it's a game, because that way, things can become truly entertaining. To pretend that it really does matter is a great thing. And to be able to pretend so thoroughly that you forget about the game - bravo!xD

Remember Leo's video about nihilism... negativity is a part of purpose to. After awakening you can say goodbye to all negativity

“Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment, chop wood, carry water.”
― Zen saying

People often worry that they will stop being how they are when they discover that there's nobody 'doing it'.   Fear not. There is no 'tree' inside of a tree anywhere that has a 'purpose to be a tree', or whom is busy with the task of 'being a tree', and yet there's the trees, being trees.

"I could be the walrus. I'd still have to bum rides off people."
