Is Enlightenment simply a self hypnosis?

55 posts in this topic

A question i have bin debating for some time.

It might come across defensive for some people. Please don't let your feelings distort the question & answer, and really think about it.

Are enlightened people just self-hypnotizing?

Or, this thing is REAL and there is an awakening to get to, and is NOT coming from a place of hypnotizing the mind into a believe.

Note. Its very easy to self hypnotize if we sit and contemplate every single day into "Who am i?"  "What am i?" and so on.

If we do this and the rest of Spiritual techniques day in day out, it can become a form of hypnosis and simply changing our brains to think in a Non-dual way.

Which one is it, and how can we know for sure?

(i know some will say well, just try it out and tell me what you see... but how do i know even after trying it out that i'm not simply not hypnotizing my brain into believing it?)

you’ll never know as in “I know that’s true.” Yet an intuitively obvious energy persists after a liberation event that is beyond any understanding.

We’re all possessed by a demon brought to the light of God.

1. This is Freedom

2. No one knows that

paradox. Can’t be understood

What IS Self hypnosis if not that?

Its very easy to dismiss it and say No.

In fact thats what i have bin doing for about 2 years.

I just want to understand. Not trying to debunk the concept.

I am deeply invested into Spiritual work. Doing all the work needed.

I just want to have an answer for the Question.

Its bin setting on my head for a while.

It’s the loss of something. Was it self hypnosis when you stopped believing in Santa Claus? The beliefs about your self just stop happening. You’ve misunderstood enlightenment if you’re asking this question you have. Nothing wrong with that.

I know what you're doing and why you're doing it.

But what you don't understand yet is that Absolute Truth exists.

You have not discovered some brilliant flaw in enlightenment. Haha.

Absolute Truth cannot be doubted, since it is the source of your doubting ability.

Stoping to believe in something can also and must also come as a from of self hypnosis.

No different if you stop believing in X and start believing in Y or vis versa.

Im looking for the TRUTH.

Thats all.

You’ll never find it, because there’s nothing else.

Cup cannot be completely filled unless it is completely empty.

“Stop believing in X and start believing in Y” is not at all the same as “stop believing.”

Not that beliefs don’t arise. No one has them.

Yes i have bin on Psychedelics many times. i still don't have a firm answer.

Yes one side i felt there's much more to what we know, see and live.

But again in reality i'm still left with my question.

If you happen to already be hypnotized, what would you do to get out?

If you doubt meditation to be a practice which undos your own "hypnosis" then what will you do to get out of it? Maybe you find a anti hypnosis technique, the super wake up technique which consists of smashing bananas together. How do you know that technique works and you aren't just "hypnotized" into thinking that works?

It's pretty simple when you take a step back. You can go wild with thought, thinking is what hypnotize and only lack of thoughts (which is the same as lack of duality) will let you out. You don't need to believe anyone about this, your heart will let you know that's the way.

That being said it's easy to have misconceptions about enlightenment which can feel "hypnotizing" if you try to take them as dogma. Enlightenment is very simple and it's not about selling enlightenment to other people.

You can delude yourself into nothingness.

Might take some discipline, but i don't see why its not possible.

And hurray! i'm Enlightened.

Agreed. I don’t see why it’s not possible either.

Why cant you self hypnotize into stop believing thoughts?

You haven't gone all the way yet, and once you do, there will be no doubt. There is a point at which all illusions stop, and absolute clarity is attained. You are having an ego backlash. It's normal. Keep going.

It's not a matter of being on psychedelics, or how many times. It's a matter of being conscious of what reality is. You are not yet conscious of what it truly is.

That's good, but that is not serious understanding.

Yes, because you have not realized yet what Truth is.

Your doubts are perfectly understandable, but ultimately silly and misguided. And unfortunately there is no way to get you to realize that until you have a deep awakening. Until then you may think that enlightenment could be a self-deception, but that is your self-deception.

Yea, keep hypnotizing your self. eventually you will be fully hypnotized (Enlightened)

(i'm using it as a metaphor to express my self, again i'm fully into spirituality)

There is really nothing to question about it if in its essence in lies solely the perception of the perceiver of thoughts, but just like you we can all confuse this insight with the implications it has on forms thereafter. (philosophy)

This is a distinction i see very seldom expressed in the forum, Leo himself seem to even express them as synonymous at times.

how much can you bend your mind? and how much do you have to do it to see straight?

It’s almost too simple. It’s not really something to get your knickers in a twist over. Hence, the unrestrained laughter and profound safety and freedom. The truth is beyond you, or me, since it is by definition the only thing.

So keep hypnotizing until i get fully hypnotized?

I just want to understand, i know deep down that i might be wrong, thats why i want to get to the bottom of it so i can move on.
