Jordan Peterson seems to be turning to Christianity

@Leo Gura
I like the rebellious trolly attitude, it sparks the image of a saint who uses pornhub to get off and juul cigarette to take the edge off.

JBP is a perfect example of high cognitive complexity and low spiral development. He lacks a map of reality sufficiently vertically complex enough to explain the complexity of the ideas he's trying to work with.

The interesting thing to note is that Peterson has mastered his subject of psychology and it does him absolutely no good in finding happiness or living life.  I can sympathize because I have read hundreds of psychology books and have found very little wisdom in them.  But then he writes another useless psychology book giving people advise.  Most therapists are equally as lost.   Western psychology is almost entirely useless.

Then deconstruct it...

Oh I have, a lot. It was many years ago when I was going through this phase. And it was definitely the mythic Christian view of God that I was raised with that I was reacting to. I had no conception at the time that God could even be thought about in any other way. Suffice to say my views have grown substantially since then!

@Jodistrict This isn't true, Western psychology is the reason why we nowadays are able to identify predators like psychopaths, pedophiles, and more recently, narcissists.

@Megan Alecia He is referring to the uselessness of psychology beyond thought.

Maybe I will make a topic about this later on but for now I will say it here:

Psychology is build on trying to change your thought patterns and behaviors from unhealthy to healthy ones. It can help identify who you are but then again, it does no good in teaching you the relationship between you and your thoughts, understanding the nature of thoughts, understanding the truth of emotions.

It puts you into categories and doesnt address the subjective experience of your existence.

There is use in psychology but meditation will really take you to the level of clarity and understanding you really thirst for.

That was going on way before psychology existed xD

My exact thoughts. This is why spirituality exists and why it's a separate field. When a celebrated clinical psychologist has been suffering with depression, anxiety and existential dread all his life, it makes you question the value of the field.

@Carl-Richard got any evidence to prove that?

History of psychopathy

History of pedophilia

Psychopaths and pedophiles existed before they were formally defined by any psychiatric diagnostic manual, and society dealt with them accordingly, albeit with less understanding and compassion. It's also not a crime to be any of those things unless you do something to break the law. Psychologists don't catch predators — the law does :P

@Carl-Richard one can't interrogate them without information into their psychology/pathology

@Carl-Richard

Society needs psychology, quit acting otherwise... Try to do your own research too sometimes.

@Carl-Richard she is right. We know much more about psychology because of developments in western psychology. Eastern mythology and mysticism won't even look into this.

INFJ-T,ptsd,BPD, autism, anger issues

@Preety_India well said. Even Alan watts didn't have much to say about psychopaths and narcissists.

@Carl-Richard it's cause you're asking the wrong question

maybe just stick to your university then?
