Almost every session should have a tangible result.

They hand out prizes and lollipops for being brave? jk

Free expression without concern of tangible results is magic. It sort of happens on its own volition. It's sometimes hard to pay someone for a service and NOT expect tangible results, which gets in the way of the real results, which is unexpected discovery. I think that therapists are valuable when they serve as a way for people to allow themselves to open up and express without fear of judgement, and often they do that successfully. But when we tell people to just "go see a therapist", or "go get real help" we sometimes shame them from using any environment or medium to express themselves, as if expression and showing who they truly are is ugly or shameful.

If we as a culture really believed therapy worked, it wouldn't be so expensive and only available for a few, it would be ingrained in our everyday habits and relationships.

Let's not subtly  shame people with mental health issues.  Everyone is a part of this environment.

Just like people browse the forum for health or sexual issues, they browse the forum for mental issues as well. There is a section dedicated to it.

Why should we segregate anyone with mental illness?

Plus there is a correlation between mental health, emotional health and spiritual health. These are all tied and interconnected.

How can you be sure that a person who is struggling with mental illness cannot have spiritual struggles? Maybe they are struggling on both sides.

Often times spiritual advice might help in changing perspectives which in turn has a huge impact on mental health.

I've seen countless people state how their spirituality and meditation reduced their mental health symptoms significantly. Whatever works, works. What if therapy doesn't work for them?

How can you know if spiritual matters are not at the core of their mental crises?

Often mental health issues could arise because a person is stuck in low consciousness paradigm like unable to accept reality or distracting themselves with video games or having dangerous mindsets. Spirituality can abort their paradigms and give them clarity on reality and help them understand things better.

And let's not forget the big title of the forum. It's not meditation. Org.

It's called Actualized. Org which means actualizing oneself and that involves physical, emotional, spiritual and of course mental health as well.

Leo has videos on depression.

Some of the advice people give here is far better than what a traditional or conventional psychologist has to offer.

The thing is our overall health is holistic - it involves every aspect of our lives, none is separate from the other.

If you don't see the interconnectedness between spiritual health and emotional, psychological and  mental health, then you have a very narrow misguided view of spirituality itself.

@Preety_India It's just his reaction.

He is just defending his insane bias, lack of understanding for Reality or anything for that matter. Preaches about stuff he himself doesn't beleive in.

Parroting neo advaita like teachings which are not awakening at all or have very little in common with Truth itself. Half assed enlightenment that's what it is.

Will respect him far more if he derives any insight or understanding of anything by himself.

Yes the freedom that is unraveled with enlightenment or Liberation is immeasurable for sure....

But

Most mental health issues need to be dealt with and addressed with proper medication and mental health professionals trained in these areas.

I've seen someone go from barely wanting to live, to feeling really well on a day-to-day basis within 7 months.

It's shocking how many suffer in silence. ❤

The more you purify yourself the less neurotic you become. The more stability you have in your life and motivation.

The suffering you(talking in general) have in your life are because of your misunderstanding of reality. So what makes you think that a psychologist understands reality ?

Not knowing who you are is a mental health problem, so we are in the right forum.

There are great sources of mental health help available on here, it is more a matter of being able to receive it. But, actual psychotherapy does have additional benefits.

@VeganAwake I apologize to you but just wanted to show you that you don't take non duality teachings as new beleif system (go for actual "thing") because it will all collapse as house of cards when you get presented with well that was just one example. Could present you million more.

Sorry for rape your wife example. But if you to strictly follow what you preach you would just observe that.

I don't beleive you one bit.

agreed, this place for sure has valuable information for such people but if a person has really challenging problems this place is not the solution to that and better handled in person through other means.

I mean it could be great place, but the thing is that you do not have time to sit with person and his problems to really try and  determine how to help, it is very difficult because people pick up whatever they feel they need without even trying what is being offered and offered can be wrong because of such short interchange.

I assure you it wasn't directed towards any 'individual'.

It may have been inspired by a story of a man who was told by his Guru at a retreat, that this was not a therapy session. Years later the man returned and thanked his Guru immensely. ❤
