Do women really want sex just as much as men do?

38 posts in this topic

So, I read through the whole "Are girls less horny than men?" thread and some people on there such as Leo, Emerald, Preety_India, etc. had mentioned that men are indeed hornier than women. However, why have many dating coaches, including both male and female ones, mentioned numerous times that women want sex just as much as men do, if not more?

it depends on the person. I would say neither sex is more hornier than the other. both are equally horny. women just aren't usually as down to fuck as quickly as men are since there is more risk for them on the physical (pregnant, STD more likely, safety) end and maybe on the emotional one as well.

Women have greater risks when it comes to sex. One of the big risks is pregnancy especially if the woman is not mentally ready for motherhood or if she hasn't decided who she should make a family with.

Plus the risk of rape, date rape, stalking, assault makes it a scarier proposition for women to think of sex  as freely as men.

A woman feels punished for any mistake she makes in the area of sex, because most likely she is going to end up paying a huge price for it both physically and emotionally.

Women are more likely to have sex with an emotional root to it, they feel humiliated if they share their body with someone who doesn't respect or value them. So they will be less likely to have casual sex. They don't like the idea of simply sleeping with anyone because that doesn't sound  emotionally valuable to them.

Women have fantasies and dreams of spending their whole lives with a man and so most women would want to seek a monogamous relationship that is long term.

Women want a sense of emotional safety. So they are more likely to search for a long term partner. Hence they cultivate better screening standards and are more likely to reject a lot of men that they see as unfit for the role of a long term loving partner.

Watch the movie Nymphomaniac.

I would say Your question is a bit too abstract. It’s not wise to generalize when we are talking about a huge amount of persons.

Look at one individual and even then there are numerous factors to consider..

Yeah, I largely agree with all of that. So, then why do you think people like Leo have said that men are definitely hornier than women?

That's very true what you're saying. So, then why are there a lot more women these days who have been having high lay counts (besides those who are prostitutes or escorts)?

I've always wondered what it would be like to have sex with one.

Some women like to take risks.. They take it. Some don't. Matter of personal preference totally.

Also society as a whole is getting more sexually liberated for women.

Some women prefer polygamous relationships and some don't.

The proportion of women who don't want a traditional type of relationship is still a minority.

Divorce stats, lack of commitment in relationships, effect of porn, oversexualization of women in media is also contributing to a trend where women want to be more experimental with sex.

However this is still not a norm.

So if you directly talked about sex or porn to a woman who you met for the first time, she will most likely be pissed off.

Women are also horny, but it’s different to the way men are.  It’s easier to think of a horny man: one who can’t control his sexual urges, will sleep with anyone if given the chance, cheating, or wanting sex from the wife who won’t give it to him.  When you look at it that way it appears that men are more horny.
If a woman is horny she can satisfy herself with masturbation, fantasising, reading some erotica for example without feeling the need to go and sleep with someone.
But actually, what people really want is intimacy and love.  Women just show that side more.  They are on the pursuit to find a man who sees that too.
So If you have a truly and deeply intimate relationship (communication, physical attention like kissing and cuddling, feeling seen for who you are, love and support) the need for sex actually diminishes, because you are having those deep intimacy needs met.   Of course you still want to have sex, but that neediness won’t be there and you don’t feel like you need to be having sex all the time and you’re both free to just ‘be’ without expectations.

Why does it matter to you? Focus on what you want from a relationship, and you'll find someone to match. It doesn't matter what the norm is.

First of all, it helps to appreciate that while for the purposes of conversation, we have to pretend that there is, there's actually no such thing as "women". You can't sleep with the average or typical woman. She doesn't actually exist. There are individual women, whose bodies and desires change all the time depending on her health, psychology, the relationship she is in, her attitude, etc. Your horniness mostly depends on the thoughts you've been thinking. Also, women are cyclical. So sometimes during her cycle she will be more horny than the average guy and other times less so. It all averages out.

I don't know whether you can know something without experiencing it for yourself, that is an epistemic question. But I think it is true and I am confused that Leo says otherwise if he actually does. Or he probably means something slightly different.

If women wanted sex just as much as men do (or more) then;

- Rape and sexual assault wouldn't be the social epidemic it's been through history.

- There wouldn't be nearly as much Redpill, Incel, or MGTOW garbage spread around.

- Human population would be even larger and more unsustainable.

It fact it's SOOO obvious that men want sex more frequently than women do that I don't know how someone could be convinced otherwise unless they live in some obscure bubble somewhere in the world where the opposite is the case.

@Roy Maybe fear and insecurity makes men hornier and makes women turn off their natural sex drive? Maybe there's an epidemic of fear and insecurity?

No, it’s biological. Has nothing to do with fear.

"Not believing your own thoughts, you’re free from the primal desire: the thought that reality should be different than it is. You realise the wordless, the unthinkable. You understand that any mystery is only what you yourself have created. In fact, there’s no mystery. Everything is as clear as day. It’s simple, because there really isn’t anything. There’s only the story appearing now. And not even that.” — Byron Katie

@Hardkill This feels like a pointless question and you're focusing on gender too much.

I've met girls who are insanely horny, in an insatiable way, wouldn't last in a monogamy either.

I've met guys who lack natural sex drive too.

It really depends on the person. Don't make it about gender. Don't put billions of unique & varying individuals into 1 box for comparison.

BTW women are more stigmatized for their sexuality so of course it will seem like men care about sex more but actually they only reveal that they want sex more often than women.
