@BipolarGrowth damn i had no idea that he killed himself. Didn't heard much of his talks but they are great.

I wouldn't say that i agree with what you said. I just assume that the result must be unpredictable.

Just like any normal person's relationship to an apple.

If someone is free from identification with the ego is he/she also free from his unique personality? What is the right balance there? Can someone function in this world and be successful for example without a healthy dose of ego or without embracing the character traits or tendencies he is born with (personality)?

I've always found it funny that we talk about ego like it's a part of us we can overcome. Tolle creates this idea.

If you're surviving in this world right now, operating from the perspective of a body, you are the ego. No ego = no you.

No you = no survival. You're free from your personality in the sense that it's imaginary and you could shape it however you want.

But you can't ever be without personality. It's up to you to decide what it's going to be.

The person is never enlightened.

Bearing with the conditioned in gentleness, fording the river with resolution, not neglecting what is distant, not regarding one's companions; thus one may manage to walk in the middle. H11L2

No one is free from ego. The someone you think will be free of ego is ego.

Enlightenment, freedom, liberation, awakening, are all a part of the dream.

The need for answers is a part of the dream.

That there is a dream is a part of the dream.

@traveler That is a fucking amazing answer

%20 of the thought process.

Ego is not personality. It's a thought about self that is believed to be the actual self.
