Posted December 22, 2020 In today's world its almost impossible to find enough time to meditate long enough to have any mystical breakthroughs if you lead a normal 9-5 life. So maybe going to prison and being sent into solitary is a better alternative? You are alone 24/7, Food is prepared for you and all you can do all day is read books , exercise and meditate. The only downfall is that you can't watch Leo's videos and can't do psychedelics. So, is it worth it?
Posted December 22, 2020 (edited) Very risky. Brings books maybe. Edited December 22, 2020 by Megan Alecia Read philosophy like dostoevsky lol it would be very mystical "We are like the spider. We weave our life and then move along in it. We are like the dreamer who dreams and then lives in the dream. This is true for the entire universe." -- The Upanishads Encyclopedia
Posted December 22, 2020 @Knowledge It’s better to start a business, get passive income, then rent a small apartment and stay there the whole time. Plus, prison is not very quiet. Btw it’s impossible to meditate 24/7. Usually you’ll meditate for about 1-2 hrs. The rest of the time you just have to waste it. "Not believing your own thoughts, you’re free from the primal desire: the thought that reality should be different than it is. You realise the wordless, the unthinkable. You understand that any mystery is only what you yourself have created. In fact, there’s no mystery. Everything is as clear as day. It’s simple, because there really isn’t anything. There’s only the story appearing now. And not even that.” — Byron Katie

" Start a business " Not everyone can do that, I'm setting a realistic approach for the majority of people. For the majority of people, it would be better to end up in prison to meditate and end up reaching enlightenment there. Also i mediate for more than 1-2 hours a day so your claim is invalid. Many people meditate for hours on end everyday. Also you can read books and exercise while not meditating.
Posted December 22, 2020 you don't need to meditate all day to gain spiritual insights. you might even find yourself getting stuck in such a situation. people seen the Buddhist monk character of the recluse in the mountains and automatically assume that is the most conscious person. Posted December 22, 2020 lol. Try meditating while your cellmate is trying to rape you and beat you up all while 30 other prisoners are making noise and looking at you the whole time. you'll also likely be cold and uncomfortable. Your desire for enlightenment will fly out the window and you'll be craving basic survival needs.
Posted December 22, 2020 You can go to an Ashram, apply for residency at a monastery, work with a consciousness work teacher, apply for residency at a psychedelic retreat centre. Peter Ralston would sleep at his retreat centre on a loft he built out the back, go out and teach, then spend the rest of his time meditating. Also, the food you will be eating in prison will be garbage that will make you lethargic and your mind floppy.
Posted December 22, 2020 I don't want to encourage you to go to prison because there are dangerous people there. I will mention for the sake of being impartial that there was a criminal who went to prison, meditated constantly, and came out reformed as a Buddhist. It is possible, but there are much more dangers involved in prison including, but not limited to, violence, punishments by guards, and infections from poorly cleaned toilets if the prison is over populated. There was another man who went to prison because he was caught with marihuana. He spent most of his time reading, but it was not worth it because the objective of prison is to waste your life. Although you can read and meditate, it is not worth the trade offs especially if you have a family. I should also mention your long term criminal record when you get out. It can make it hard to get a job, leading to poverty. Please reconsider before you get yourself arrested. If you really want to be enlightened, become a monk in a Zen temple and scrub toilets before and after you meditate. This beats prison if you can still access Leo's videos. Posted December 22, 2020 It will depend on the prison. If you go to some third world or even some USA prison, 90% of your time will be spent on survival. So your intention of being a zen meditator will not be possible. Lets not even talk about the bad nutrition also will make you just not be in the best optimal conditions for meditation. If you go to a sweden prison, maybe it´s possible.
