Difference between mindfulness and introspection

3 posts in this topic

Mindfulness is about noticing and acknowledging the present moment while introspection is about discerning truth from falsehood. There is an overlap, both are about observation but clearly introspection is not mindfulness.

The difference is in the depth of observation, introspection is looking deeper into yourself.
In introspection content matters. In mindfulness content is irrelevant.

Curious, What do you think is the difference and similarity? And why do we need both?

Introspection=reflecting on what has and hasn't worked

Mindfulness=watching your current thoughts

This is a really nice description. I see them as two different flavors of increasing consciousness.

Introspection is more intellectual, yet it increases mindfulness.

Mindfulness is more technical and it helps you get more introspective "power".

I'd define introspection as using mindfulness to arrive at an answer to internal questions.

Mindfulness as increasing your ability to notice without getting lost in stories.

You don't need both, it's just better to do both if you want to life fully.
