Can´t focus / Energy for intellectual work

10 posts in this topic

I don´t have a problem having energy for physical stuff but I´m having serious challenge coming back to my software developer projects because I just cant put in the energy/focus to get back at them.

Its been sometime since I quit caffeine (over 3 months) and I feel I haven´t yet recover from it. I do not have the energy I used to have with coffee. The problem is, I have tried to drink an expresso, and since I have little tolerance I get so many jitters and pushy stimulation I can´t do anything and I end up watching porn of so stimulated I get (and anxious).

Basically my focus and mental energy is shit and I dont what to do if go back to 4 coffees a day to see if my tolerance go up and i dont get so anxious and jitter but at least I can work.

That is quite possible. I've once seen a brain scan, they showed the dopamine circuits of someone who quit caffein compared to a normal brain. The timescale for recovery was definitely months to a year.

Maybe research supplements? Eating more omega 3's seems to help me somewhat. (Check your sleep. Check your motivation. Check your other stresses in life...)

Thanks yeah I'll probably have to research some supplements while the caffeine high dynamic gets completely out of my life

@Javfly33  There are lots of options you may or may not have considered. Nofap will naturally give you more energy, cleaning up your diet will help, perhaps fixing any systemic health issues you may have, intermittent fasting helps too!

Yeah not nofap since it's too manic for me but I'm starting 1fap a week from today because I definitely notice the drain of energy from regular masturbation

If you don't want to drink 1/2 cup, you could try dark chocolate. It has caffeine and other brain stimulating ingredients, works wonders for me.

One 3.5-ounce bar of dark chocolate (70-85%) will have around the same amount as one cup of coffee.

Have you tried the Wim Hof Method? It is said that this can help with both focus and energy. I started a 30 day introductory course the other day, seeing glimpses of improved energy and calm.

It seems you've eliminated the thing that was hiding symptoms (caffeine), but you didn't eliminate the root cause of a thing. Hense this is why you suffer.

Can you write up how your average day looks like in a personal diary-like fashion?

Yeah, I think you hit the nail there.

My average day is waking up, taking a dose of kratom or coffee, heading to work, taking another dose of kratom or coffee, finish work at 15pm. Fix a meal and rest until 5pm,but sometimes at that time i crash and I sleep until 6pm. By that time I am somewhat sleepy and lethargic so I do a coffee but since i dont have much tolerance it just makes me anxious so I end up not doing the work i want to do (work on finding a better job). I just surf the net or apply to some job offers. Kinda wasting time tbh. And then because I took coffee I can´t sleep so i do another dose of kratom to get me to sleep (but this is not all days just the days I do coffee at 6pm and I can´t sleep since i have little tolerance)
