Zen Master Eido Roshi answers the question, 'Does God exist?'

114 posts in this topic

This guy says Buddhism does not see God as the creator of heaven and earth, or humans.

I'm really confused because I thought Buddhists mostly see enlightenment and God the same way that Leo talks about. Absolute infinity/nothingness/love. Something greater than the universe that includes and interpenetrates all aspects of it.

If everything exists within God, how is God not a creator? Was everything not created just in this perfect way to maximize love?

Is this guy just wrong?

He's simply not conscious of what God is.

God-realization is a very advanced stage of awakening.

You have to go really deep to realize that you are God and that you created the whole universe.

Just because someone is a Buddhist does not make him God-realized.

The only proper answer to the question of "Does God exist?" is: YOU ARE GOD! DUMMY!

You are God. You are Truth. You are Love. You are Infinity.

If the Universe is One, creation and existence are identical.

When you create breakfast, who is creating it? What is creation?

You have no problem admitting you created breakfast, but you deny you created the Universe.

For me to have created breakfast there was a time prior to that point where I was sleeping and then taking a shower before making breakfast.
The creation of the breakfast did not infinitely exist.

Therefore if there was a point at which the universe was created  that means the universe is finite.
It is speculation to assume there was a point where it was created rather than always existed.

However the universe might be finite. If that is the case it was created rather than has existed infinitely

Infinity is beginningless and was never created. It just IS

pure is-ness

You designed every hair on your body.

God is that which created itself.

I think you are missing what he is saying.  For something to be infinite means it has no beginning and no end - which is identical to saying it created itself.

Infinity just IS itself.  There ain't nothing outside of it.  Its total.

@Nak Khid The formless 'gives birth to'/'creates' form, though they're same/of same essence, as in wave in the ocean or sand castle and sand.

xD not everybody's awakenings turn them into god-heads, only certain types of people reflect on their true nature in this way (not that it's good, bad, right or wrong)
