Is awakening the same as shooting yourself in the head?

So is the "state"(dont have a better word for it) after someone shoots himself in the head and dies the same  as right after an awakening experience? In both cases the ego dies and merges into infinite consciousness and one becomes God. So it would be logical to assume that after both events you will have the same consequence. So awakening is literally the same thing as death/suicide.

You assume the following

1) God exists

2) a person is not merged with God but when they die they become merged with God

3) that if something called "awakening" occurs a person who is awakened had an ego before this occurred
but after they are awakened they no longer do

Ego Death
In descriptions of psychedelic experiences, the term is used synonymous with ego-loss to refer to (temporary) loss of one's sense of self due to the use of psychedelics. The term was used as such by Timothy Leary et al. to describe the death of the ego in the first phase of an LSD trip, in which a "complete transcendence" of the self

So if all these people took LSD and some had ego deaths then how is it they still have egos after coming down?

-  did the ego merely go into hiding and not "die" ?

- did the ego leave the body

The point of ego-death being positive is that the ego is only a small part of you. The ego doesn't completely "die" per se, but rather your true self takes over the wheel, so to speak.

Killing oneself literally ends one's physical existence. You probably still need to awaken in the after life.

@actualizing25 If you thought that you were going to heaven after shooting yourself in the head, then yes it’s similar to shooting yourself in the head. But don’t shoot yourself in the head please.

No, in one case, when you are enlightened and recognize your true essence you are ready to merge with God.

In the other case, you will be still attached to an idea of what you are (a body, a mind, an ego, etc) so all those attachments will create again a body to where be born until you learn the lesson and become really free. You won't be ready to be one with GOD because of those attachments.

In fact, you will reject God because it will scare the shit out of you (your ego-body-mind).

Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you?

Why no?

Because there's a difference between ego death and bodily death.

If bodily death happens before ego death, there is still a clinging that will almost certainly have to transfer over to another body.

Suffering is best used as fuel for ego death; suicide (at best) puts you in similar or worse circumstances.

tl;dr -- teenage suicide: don't do it.
