A Stage Yellow Robot?

6 posts in this topic

Just watched I am Mother on Netflix, the robot in the film is different from your

typical nefarious movie cyborg. It helps other humans even though it's primary designed

to look after it's own 'special' family of human beings.

I saw a lot of stage yellow in the way it behaves and responds.

If anyone else has watched or is willing to watch to provide their opinion

that would be great.

The typical image of a robot in media is usually non-questioning blue or neurotic overly logical autist. What a change.

Who knows what an actual robot with sufficient complexity would act like.

Ps: absolutely hate the manipulative "thump" noise and the uninspired pseudo futuristic design.

I watched this a while ago and found it quite interesting, so I'm glad there's a discussion about it. I think yes the robot is a high level consciousness but I think it lacks compassion and sees humans as disposable. We do this to animals below us but I wouldn't say that's a high consciousness action.

It also sees everything as a means to an end so essentially no action is off the table if it gets them to their desired end result. This would work if they were the only thing in existence, but it's hard when something is outside their singularity.

Good film though I may watch it again at some point

This looks interesting, thanks for sharing.
Got tired recently by all the low level green stuff Netflix puts out, I just gave up on them.
I'll give this one a shot!

@Consept Yes it doesn't value all humans equally that was one of the main concerns I had.
