yep maybe i should consider some 5meo :-)

what would be evidence of results?

and what is the specific problem you are having? You can't complete tasks which you you planned to do?

@NoN-RaTiOnAL Optimizing your health and brain-chemistry might also be an important factor for you.

Concentration isn't going to get you self-realized, but you need to be determined in renunciation of ego-thought, and practice being as pure consciousness within, and opening to it

(Possibly with the help of japa, or a meditation image, or even prayer or satsang with a good realizer.

Being and focusing on a good realizer is the best, most direct, best guiding force and most inspiring and giver of faith and ultimately knowing)

..Concentration on outer objects is only helpful but not essential, being inward, self discovering is, but you need to be that consciously, can't be said to be a precise matter of concentration, it's more relaxing, but requires some focus.

And healing some emotional things may be helpful to become clearer, stiller, that also happens through spiritual practice but will still be helpful also often.

i read the spiritual literature aswell buddy.. im well aware of all that your saying and it has no relation to what im referring to.
im not getting annoyed or dissapointed of myself for not being concentrated enough. im just admitting 2 facts:
1. im a neurotic person
2. concentration practices ive tried for several years now havnt helped at all
and im asking are there any other alternatives people heard of that could possibly aid in this process?
if not - ill keep going with what im already doing hoping it will improve in time.

Is it actually a fact that you're a neurotic person, or could it just be a belief identified with as a part of the 'ME'.

What is the aim of your spiritual practices?

What does Enlightenment mean to you?

@NoN-RaTiOnAL Yoga might work well for you, since it's more bodily, less mental.

You were asking about biofeedback/neurofeedback devices in another thread and after reading what you posted here i'd suggest giving an emWave2 heart coherence monitor a try. It aids in training one to have a relaxed but focused state of mind, heart coherence being directly correlated to ones state of mind. In other words the more you chill mentally the more the heart/mind coherence comes into sync.

Might not help too much, but try a dopamine detox.

Literally a day of nothing but meditation, water, writing and sleeping, google it.

And, then try to reduce your exposure to things that spike your dopamine hugely and unnaturally. For example, scrolling through social media for hours, porn, hours of video games etc.

Im NOT saying these things are bad, however, excess use of these things can lead to concentration issues and needing stimulation. At least it did for me.

So, now my phone is off when working, porn habit has been kicked, and social media is limited to after work and weekends, same for video games/ TV/ movies etc. And I’ll do a quarterly dopamine detox :)

Its really helped me, the practices Leo mentioned are of course also amazing.

This ^^^ yeah start doing concentration pratices and also look at doing long meditation retreats. They give you a great boost and show you whats possible. I guess like anything I've found its down to how bad do you want it? You'll become enlightened if you really want to.  If you really want it you'll do anything  whatever it takes. Also try not to lable yourself as a compulsive thinker, don't deny it but just see it for what it is

@remember Have you tried it? I just finished a session. Haven't used it for a few months and got a really sucky score.

As far as chakra work I'd say it helps one to get into a "flow state" or a state of equilibrium with the heart center.

i agree. when i went on a retreat i got great results from being disconnected from everything for 10 days straight and doing meditation all day long.
but it just doesnt seem to stay when im back home.. and im not so dopamin addicted.. barely watch tv.. also dont use social media much..
i will consider where i could cut off more of that shit... thanks

some conversation i had earlier in the day, going over it and examining what i said, if maybe i could have been clearer, nicer... etc
another common one is just explanations and insights. i suddenly start explaining things in my head.

You might a have neurological disorder.  I recommend you see an accredited  neuropsychologist .   You may have a brain disorder or disease which can be evaluated by testing.
If they recommend some sort of treatment you do not have to accept it and you can get other opinions and decide what do do after some thought.
You may also have no physiological problem  but it's best to have some testing done to see if you might have something inherited, a brain injury or disease.

haha my brain is overall very functioning and well. is it a neurological problem to have meaningless thoughts about the past?

@Leo Gura perfect, that gives me motivation, a very nice explanation. thanks!

What’s the relationship between thinking about how people think about you, and being concerned with explaining insights...and concentration?
