Lines Of Spiral Dynamic Development (Bar Chart) (See Where You Are On The Spiral In..

See where you are on the spiral in different aspects of your psyche...

The columns below represent different aspects of your life "Lines" and the rows (shown in colors) represent the Spiral Dynamics stages.

Spiral Dynamic Lined Bar Chart.png

See for yourself what level of development you have in each aspect of your life. It is a map in the end so it is not going to explain everything, but it can give you a pretty accurate sense of who you are. It is wise to do this evaluation once every year to see how you have progressed.

Here is the file:

Spiral Dynamics Lines Of Development Bar Chart.xlsx

You can open it with google sheets, you don't need Microsoft Excel.

This is roughly how you can assess yourself:

Friendships:

RED; Do you relate to others for personal gain? BLUE; Or do you seek to belong and conform with others?, ORANGE; Or do you seek to have growth friendships? GREEN; Or do you seek to connect and empathize with others and find fulfillment through connection? I don't know about yellow or turquoise yet...

Routine Planning:

How are you planning your day? BLUE; Are you religious and rigid about it? making arbitrary tasks that everyone just does? ORANGE; Or are you going to look for yourself and see what tasks suit you and make a methodical plan? GREENOr are you going to just lay back not, plan anything, and let your emotions guide what you want to do? YELLOWOr are you going to create the most efficient possible day by integrating your both emotions and methodical planning?

Is it necessary to get committed with multiple friends and relationships if one has to score higher in those particular fields?. Why not post source file of it? can we post our own scores on this thread?

how does Routine Planning fit into this? Shouldnt an Orange CEO be better at planning than an Green deadbeat hippie?

@Rilles You can find areas or "Lines" of life yourself that others haven't thought of before. This one I thought up myself. I didn't see Ken Wilber, Leo, The SD guys, or anybody else talk about it, maybe they're aware of it, but they haven't mentioned it, so I discovered this for myself.

If you discover any other areas or "Lines", do PM me or come back here to write about it.

Take care

I dont really think that Green people dont plan though, I think Bernie Sanders plans alot but maybe taking way more emotion into account though, also less rigid than Orange and Blue.

@Rilles Careful, you judge Bernie as being absolutely Green, but what makes you think his routine planning development isn't Yellow??

Besides Green planners can be productive, If they are emotionally driven to create projects that's what they'll work on and get it done..

In my opinion, routine planning is something people mature in very fast because they face the obstacle of balancing being productive, optimal relaxation, and happiness daily.

I wouldn't be surprised if a 23 year-old had stage Yellow development in routine planning.

You must realize some areas in life require you to mature much faster or suffering is a result. Fundamentally the only reason you mature through these stages is because the current way of operation starts to cause suffering.

@innerchild Logically yes you'll need to have friends and relationships, but I don't know for sure, you'll have to figure out yourself how you can move up the stages in the lines of friendships and relationships.

@d0ornokey Yeah exactly, it helps if you go through the obstacles of each stage so that you can come up with a new workaround.

He doesnt seem very Yellow to me, he pins Socialism against Capitalism and makes a boogie man which seems more Green to me.

Agreed.

@Rilles Yeah yeah, In agreement with you that bernie shows green development when it comes to that, but in the Line of "Routine Planning" he probably has yellow development.

@Rilles By the fact that he was running for president, it's a very tough task, and he has to take into consideration many different factors:
his emotions, physical health, mental health, the many people around him, the tasks and how they play into the bigger picture etc..

I still don't think you get the gist of what I'm trying to say about routine planning, you yourself probably have yellow routine planning, if not then definitely someone older than you.

You start off a little kid, RED planning your days based on impulse (not planning them at all). BLUE Then you move towards wanting to achieve goals in your life so you start off by making rigid routines based on norms. ORANGE Then you start to find things that suit your needs more and plan your day more strategically. GREEN you are tired of being strategic and it isn't fulfilling you so you start going off of your emotions. YELLOW Your emotions are to be considered but shouldn't run you instead integrate emotions with strategy.

The problem with self-evaluation is that it will likely be self-biased. That's one of the limitations.

Lower consciousness individuals don't know how unconscious they are. They don't know what they don't know.

Maybe this test can be useful in thinking about these aspects of life more deeply.

Well yes, self evaluation can be inaccurate if you are confused and dont understand the model with clarity this doesn’t have to necessarily involve self bias.

Self evaluation can also be inaccurate due to self bias which I see as having the need to play your self up, or claim that you have a territory on truth. In which case this results in one thinking they’re above their stage.

Its not so much a test its more of an assessment fully vulnerable to self bias and lack of understanding of the model.

The great thing about this SD dynamics model is that you can use it to assess almost anything that involves you interacting with something. What do I mean?

Lets say youre on the forum. There is a you and there is a forum. How are you interfacing with the forum? The forum consists of people and their opinions. Which manner do you go about navigating through that? That can be answered using SD

RED: You are looking for ways to develop power and go about it in an impulsive manner.

BLUE: You are here to conform and belong and create an ideology.

ORANGE: You are looking to prove everyone else wrong, and show that you are right. (There's a lot of that here, I included)

GREEN: You want to contribute to the forum community, connect, bond and help individuals as well as receive guidance.

YELLOW: You are looking for new perspectives and insights, with the aim to help you create a better model of reality.

There's also a deeper level of self-bias where no amount of investigating or contemplating will reveal it to you. I mean, you would have to increase your consciousness via psychedelics, meditation, breathing, concentration, etc. to become conscious of that bias and transcend it. I say this because in order to access tier two stages we need to take that into account. It's not that lower consciousness does not know, it's that it cannot know and doesn't know what to know. A catch 22.

A kangaroo no matter what it does cannot access levels of understanding a human does. Similarly, e.g, a stage orange person might put himself as orange on the scale but look at yellow from an orange perspective, without realizing he has a perspective. So orange's concept of yellow is wrong without him/her knowing that it's wrong and the only way it can be corrected is by a shift in consciousness.

I'm just pointing the role of consciousness in all this, which according to me has the biggest impact on spiral dynamic stages. If we realize the importance of consciousness we can possibly get people to 'value' it more, so they can cultivate and increase it. Talking more about consciousness and connection with being in addition to thinking and emotions can be beneficial.
