New Metric: Focus

I'm going to add a new metric to my reports that will represent the intensity of my focus, it will simply be named Focus. I can work for longer hours now, but my focus isn't that great so I need to take it into account to improve my productivity.

I often have unrelated thoughts when working and sometimes I tend to distract myself with other stuff on the internet. To improve my concentration I'm going to do the following each time that I caught myself being distracted:

  1. Inhale
  2. Exhale
  3. Let go of the distraction
  4. Relax the body
  5. Repeat steps 1, 2, 3, 4 multiple times
  6. Refocus on the work. For that, I will change my thought process, instead of keeping my focus on unrelated thoughts, I will think about what I'm doing and what needs to be done in the current situation so that the work can move forward

I will rate my focus from 1 - 5:

  1. Near to zero focus
  2. A little of work, but a lot of distracting thoughts and attempts to distract myself
  3. Average focus, but still too much distracting thoughts and maybe some attempts to distract myself
  4. Good focus with a few distracting thoughts, but no attempts to distract myself
  5. Intense, deep, flow state
