Conciousness Dial

Is the Conciousness dial an unlimited dial that can go on forever and ever or is it more like a dial that reaches its max? Would it just become infinite in the present moment, making it impossible to increase further.

Simple logic says that the part (single consciousness) cannot get bigger than the whole, but reality is illogical too, so I don't know.
